Recording dictations - ll

Posted: Aug 02, 2013

Seriously, I wonder if there is a way to record these dictations. I would LOVE to hear for myself the "errors" QA/QC are always finding and putting into Fiesa. The fact that we are not provided with proof of these "errors" really concerns me. Please Nuance bigwigs, prove to me that QA/QC isn't making things up or hearing things wrong. Really, are we to believe that we are the only ones making mistakes, that they always have perfect hearing? I want proof!

I don't work for Nuance, but have always wondered how QA people always find ridiculous mistakes (She will take HER medication vs. THE medication, The patient IS here today vs. WAS here, etc.) and whether QA are correct or we are actually the correct ones. And in pretty much all instances, it doesn't matter because it doesn't change the meaning at all.

Realizing this is all a scam I got a job elsewhere and I am out of here - MT

Tired of the cheating and lies all the time in this company including TL, ROM, etc. The only people I trust here are the MTs and they are the ones who are being hurt. Today is my last day I am so GONE.

Good for you for your successful escape! I'm not yet in a position where I can leave but my resume is complete and I'm looking forward to that wonderful day when I too get out.

Oh, but there is a way. They just don't tell us. It's called - joblister and has to be

installed by tech support. It gives us limited ability to hear the dictations again. Ask your TSM or call tech support about this. It's real, they just don't want us to know about it.

THANK YOU!

You can listen to the dictation and hear - what they corrected

Just write down the job numbers in FIESA, then log into the account and do a search for that job number.

My problems are grid problems. They are always saying I put the wrong date in, or wrong establishment code. No way to check those. :-(

Oops...I should also add.... - When the job

comes up after searching, there should be a little yellow speaker. Click on that, it opens Windows Media Player and then plays the dictation for you. The entire report. Hope this helps someone.

Where? - ll

Where do I go to listen? In Fiesa? The platform is ExText. Do I search in there?
Read my post above you. Where it says - you can listen. NM

when I click on - the speaker..

The only thing that opens up is a blank page with a red X in the corner. This happened when I was first hired at nasty N, so I had to let tech support in my computer to fix it. They changed a bunch of other settings on my computer that they didn't need to, so I don't want them back in my computer. I don't know how it got screwed up again and don't know what settings tech support changed to get it to work. Do you have any idea? Thanks
Most computers come with Media Player - to play music
[ In Reply To ..]
search your computer for Windows Media Player. If you have it, the settings are messed up so that it won't automatically start when you choose to play a file. If you don't have it, search it on the internet and download it. Hope this helps. After this info, it gets a bit tricky to troubleshoot while talking here. Try to find a geek to help you. :-)
Thanks for the reply - appreciate it

I do have Windows Media Player and I've been using it to listen to the files after tech support "did their thing." One day a while back I went in to listen to a previous report and it wouldn't load the file to play and hasn't worked since. I do have a couple of geek friends that will probably know what to do. Thanks.

Yes there is - Saving Voice Files - Here is How

[ In Reply To ..]
Go to ACCESSORIES, find Sound Recorder and open it. Click Start and play your job outloud. When you are done, just save it. It will then play as a Windows Media file.

I generally start recording after the demographics are dictated to avoid any HIPAA violations (99% of all patient specs are included in that) and then save the file with the job number, dictator name along with a date for future reference. Patient specifics are not a concern, while the poor quality of the recording is, so aim for that.

Additionally, I've got matching VR documents before any edits to pair with the voice recording.

If they want it edited in English at 99% the quality of English in the dictation should be greater than 20%, and so should their voice recognition document. These two factors are directly and severely impacting my ability to earn a wage most in keeping with my experience & skill, something I can also document.

Why should my production wages be penalized for problems solely created by the company? They shouldn't - and neither should yours!

(The company has recourse with the client to rectify poor dictators, the MLS does not.)

Wow - thanks for the info on how to record - voice files. VERY useful !!! NM

How To Transcribe From A Recording Using Foot Pedal?
Dec 03, 2014

I have to transcribe something that was recorded WITHOUT benefit of a transcription program. It's just a recording (I think it's on the Internet right now). It wasn't recorded via any sort of transcription program that I can sync up with a foot pedal, and it wasn't recorded on a tape or anything. Does anybody know if there's a way that I can use my foot pedal to transcribe this? (I really HATE to transcribe it without use of a foot pedal - obviously, it's going to t ...

25 Second Dictations
Apr 13, 2010

For the past 2 days, I have been on an account with very short dictations - clinic notes that average between 7 and 30 lines.  I am making less than minimum wage - it takes a certain amount of time just to do the ADT info and of course they are all ESL doctors.  I don't have a primary and I certainly hope this account doesn't end up as my primary.  Anyone have any tips on how to make money on these short little dictations? ...

Dictations
Mar 19, 2014

Why is it that not taken into the equation of our pay is the fact that most residents, PAs, CNP, CNM, etc., do not pronunciate, have correct grammar, or the fact that they just don't dictate adequately in general?  I spend way too much time looking up, confirming, trying to figure out what they are saying as they laugh, slur, set the phone down under paperwork while flipping through charts and sign papers (can hear this often), or constantly move the phone around where all I hear is cr ...

Partial Dictations
Jun 22, 2014

I think all dictations at Nuance should be partial dictation worktype. Wtih "partial dictations, you don't have to do as much checking of demographics, figuring out date of service and filling that in, etc., and not having to pend and leave comments so mcuh. I notice I'm about 75 lines faster an hour when it's partial dictations because there's less outside-the-report activity to be done. This is extra activity we dont' even get paid for. After all, MTs are only paid ...

Mistakes In Normal Dictations
Jan 20, 2010

At my company (a smaller one) there are a lot of mistakes in the normal dictations that the doctors request.  The way they are created in the first place is the transcriptionist types up the report and sends it to QA saying the doctor would like to use this in the future for his normal, but I don't think they get reviewed by QA.  I think they just get created the way they are.  So if it was a right eye, the word right is there all the way through it.  If a word is misspe ...

Do Doctors Get "graded" On Dictations?
Oct 13, 2011

Seriously, if not, they should.   Some docs just repeatedly have horrible dictations. I'm not talking about accents or anything like that. I'm talking such horrible mumbling it's ridiculous. Or talking to far away from the mic. Or apparently trying to dictate in a hurricane. Or trying to dictate over a crying baby. And on and on. Once in a while, fine. But when it is constant...when I see that doc's name get pulled up and I instantly know the horror that will soon fol ...
