We have a supervisor.. just one. She can also type at home if she chooses to once she gets home from the office. Of course she does because she makes a lot more money. I probably would too. But, here's my peeve..... We can't cherry pick.. of course not. No sending jobs back that are from some of the worst dictators in the world. We just trod through and type and get those horrible lines per hour on those horrible docs . But she assigns all the best dictators by the boat load to herself and types them at home. Now is that fair?

If you have proof that she is assigning work to herself and that she is cherry picking, I would make a complaint to her supervisor.

Thank goodness. Thought it was just me being selfish. I would complain, but others won't because they are all afraid. And of course, that would be like slitting my own throat. She and her supervisor are best friends. Just sad really that they preach to us about things like that and then it happens with her. Well thanks for the vent. It helps.

It happened to me today again! Someone was skipping the long notes and going for the formatted ones that make the best line count. On the days when there are no formatting lines no one seems to be wanting to work, but get a few of those and everyone comes out of the woodwork. Your situation sucks! If you report the supervisor life could really be very difficult for you. I'd think long and hard before I said anything... But you are entitled to be mad and to vent. Believe me I sure get that way too.

How many times, after getting one crappy dictation after another, have you logged off for say 15 minutes or so hoping that other MTs will get the crap so you can log back on to something easier? That's a form of cherry picking.

I know this is going to irritate some, but if I were a supervisor helping out by doing a little typing, I would assign myself easier work simply because I give the company 8 or 10 hours a day supervising and then give them some transcription above and beyond my job description. Heck yeah, I'm going to take easy work! I've earned the right!

There may or may not be rules about this in the MT workplace. She may be within the law because she owns the business. Or she may be violating the law and the LB may have a way to enforce it.

Labor Boards enforce the labor LAWS. Doubt there is a law on the books that says thou shall not take the easy work.

No one makes the OP stay there. If you don't like the work available to you, leave and find work you love. THAT would be "bettering your lot in life" not wasting the time of the Labor Board.

Report her anonymously via letter stating concerns about retaliation as to why letter is anonymous. Document several days where she takes all the good stuff. If the postmark would identify you, get a family member/friend in another city to send it. Copy her supe and her supe's supe, maybe even owner if it's a small MTSO, since she and her supe are buddies.

I've been doing this a long time, and I know how oblivious doctors are to anything approaching being polite when they dictate. I've heard them in the bathroom, I've heard them yelling at their kids, talking on the phone, listening to football games on TV while dictating, etc. We all have. I absolutely hate the account I type for....hate it. Is it really THAT difficult to want most of the physicians dictate correctly? I said 'most' too because I do know that to expect all of them to dictate correctly is ridiculous. I can't even average 10 reports an hour on this account because of the errors. It's such a nice holiday gift they're giving us. We all know that anytime you throw a new account or dictator in the mix it drops our LPH. Because of this it will also be dropping our PTO, which is based on our LPH/cpl. I just had a report that could have been dictated and wrapped up in 10 seconds if he'd just dictated it straight through. Instead, each word was separated by about 10-20 seconds of nothing, with only the sound of him eating chips until he said another single word, then smacked and crunched again for another 10-20 seconds. Pulling standards into ASR reports!!!!! This does not work!
