I am trying so hard at this new job. I've been there a month, and I've never seen such complicated visit choices, etc. It's just very difficult for me for some reason. I have pages and pages of good notes, but I'm always missing something. So far, no one has been ugly with me, but I'm feeling it's only a matter of time. I'm an experienced MT of over 12 years and am very good, but I'm just about to cry because of these header problems I'm having. I don't know whether to reach out to someone in management. I don't want to bug anyone or feel sorry for myself, but I'm about ready just to shut it down and go. I'm trying to learn new doctors' names, new everything. This account goes against everything I've ever been taught, i.e., in this account, you don't expand abbreviations in diagnoses, assessments... it doesn't pay much anyway and without being able to expand those abbreviations, one makes even less money! I feel like crap!

I don't know which company you work for, but if it were me, I would reach out to my team lead and just tell them that you just seen to not be understanding the headers completely and do they have time for a short one on one to make sure you get it. It is not feeling sorry for yourself. Some accounts are a real pain in the buns and until the light bulb goes on so-to-speak you can feel like you are pulling your hair out. It can't hurt to ask for some help. Just say you want to make sure you are doing a great job and need a little bit of assistance making sure you have the header information down pat.

I actually have done that, and they've all been really great with me.... so far. I guess I'm just whining.. trying to learn so much and get my speed up at the same time. I have to read quite a bit before I even start most of the reports to make sure I know what goes into the headers of particular reports, etc. I've just never worked on such a complicated (complicated to me) account before, and it's getting to me.

I dunno.. I'll just do the best I can, as what else can I do? lol.. If I'm just too dumb to "get it," I'll be let go.. not the end of the world certainly but like I said.. I'm just feeling really down about it all.

Maybe if you share the name of the company, people on this board can help. That worked for me under similar circumstances (just be sure not to mention specific accounts or names). It's worth a try!

I'd be afraid to do that. I've read several posts about the company here and that they read here. They probably already know I've posted here..They'd know right away that it was me.. lol..

Don't get frustrated with me. Believe me, I'm frustrated enough with myself.. :)

I would bet you aren't alone in the problems you are having. The company probably would have no way of knowing who you are. If the AS are that difficult, everyone probably struggles with them.

I just started with a company in a hiring frenzy and I am treading water. I have been an MT for 12+ years and have always passed audits and been relased from training within days. That is not happening with this new job and I am completey puzzled as to what the deal is (well not completely puzzled the QA is a nit picking nightmare).

Anyway, hang in there. It can only get better.

I am taking a break after 3 hours and have 403 lines........ that is ridiculous to say the least. I have 25 plus years experience but this account is just terrible. Feel free to email me if you like.

Have the same thing with no expanding in headers and there are umpteen different work types and clinics and the like. I am ready to friggin scream already!!!

If it were me, I would speak with my supervisor and ask for her advice, maybe even consider an account change. They really want you to be happy and make money too because when you make money they make money.

I can empathize. I started recently with a new company after being with the last one 15+ years. I was the highest producer, requested personally by physicians, etc. But starting all over as a newbie at a company, learning all-new everything (platform, doctors, facilities, account specifics, town/city names), and of course the daily QA did a number on my confidence level. I was really doubting myself. Even though everyone here was super-nice, helpful, and gave me good feedback, there were still days I wanted to quit and, yes, there were days I cried. You've received good advice here. I'd add too that it's time. I've been here 4 months now and just starting to feel like "my old self". One thing that helped me was buying a big old ugly bulletin board and tacking up reminders and notes that I could glance at without shuffling through papers.

I'll keep on going and feel much better thanks to all of you! I really love being able to come here and talk to others. It means a lot!

The folks who work there really have been great to me. If they had not, I never would have made it, and they know I appreciate them, as I've told them time and time again, and I meant it!

Someone ought to take these ESL doctors and torture them like they torture us with their unbelievably horrible English speaking skills! We should not be told we're jeopardizing patient care - it's the ESL doctors. I've never had an ESL doctor and I'd refuse to be treated by one who can't speak clearly or speak a complete sentence. I've been doing this a long time, and I know how oblivious doctors are to anything approaching being polite when they dictate. I've heard them in the bathroom, I've heard them yelling at their kids, talking on the phone, listening to football games on TV while dictating, etc. We all have. Wow, if E-scription is such a wonderful ASR platform, I feel sorry for us all becuase I have had to change at least 1-2 words per line on E-scription today, WHENEVER I actually had work, that is. I've switched jobs about 4 times this year, searching for the "perfect fit" - even went down to 7 cpl as an IC which everyone on these boards has said NEVER to do, just so I could have no weekends and flexibility during the day. This dictator is driving me nuts!!! Even the sound of every deep, gravelly, congested-sounding breath the man takes makes my head and ears hurt. I absolutely hate the account I type for....hate it. Is it really THAT difficult to want most of the physicians dictate correctly? I said 'most' too because I do know that to expect all of them to dictate correctly is ridiculous. I can't even average 10 reports an hour on this account because of the errors. It's such a nice holiday gift they're giving us. We all know that anytime you throw a new account or dictator in the mix it drops our LPH. Because of this it will also be dropping our PTO, which is based on our LPH/cpl. While I'm at it, I need to vent. Received an email yesterday with a "snapshot" of my QA for the past 6 months. Just numbers. 3 months passed, 3 months didn't. I just had a report that could have been dictated and wrapped up in 10 seconds if he'd just dictated it straight through. Instead, each word was separated by about 10-20 seconds of nothing, with only the sound of him eating chips until he said another single word, then smacked and crunched again for another 10-20 seconds. Pulling standards into ASR reports!!!!! This does not work!
