What exactly is their reasoning behind making all the hospitals and other places put their coders through the expense and headache of trying to learn ICD-10 if they keep pushing it back? Come on already! So, I guess another ICD-9 book will be out in October?

I wonder if this will change MModal's coder training - program. What is the point now? NM

M*Modal's coding training program had nothing to do with this. Nothing at all. There is no M*M conspiracy, no hidden agenda, and no ominous meaning.

Come back here in 2 years and say Mmodal has nothing to do with - offshoring and slashing pay for coding.

The code set has not been updated in a couple of years -- they froze it. No time now to undo that.

Yes, new books will be published, but you won't need to buy them. If there are any changes, they will be so few that you can get them off the website and write them in by hand.

Just wondering, because I graduated a while back and haven't taken any of my exams, but I plan to, but I want to order practice workbooks for coding. What is the oldest ICD-9, HCPCS, etc I can use?

I graduated Andrews about a year ago and never went to take the test, but I really want to and since I have not been coding anything I need to brush up, but I only have 2010 code books. :/

You have to take it before Dec 31 when it is supposed to change to ICD10. Take it within 3 months to give yourself time to retest before then.

You will need a 2014 CPT and a 2014 HCPCS, but I think I saw that either a 2013 or 2014 ICD9 will do. That code set did not change appreciably this year, so 2013 is still usable.

For the CPT, you only need the first part of the course, not the inpatient.

Just curious about this as the new increases in some states are more than what a lot of MTs make hourly, i.e. Seattle, Washington, $15.00 an hour. This won't affect me personally, but I wonder how MTSOs will be handling this situation. If an employee is paid on production but is an employee and not an IC, if she lives in Washington or another state where minimum wage is higher than what she is producing, how does an MTSO handle this? ...
