viva transcription relocating my accounts - love2type

I have been typing for viva for a year now and just received word from them that they were relocating my accounts to a back end voice rec system due to industry pressures for faster turnaround time and lower pricing for clients. Apparently my accounts, which aren't particularly difficult (no accents etc) were chosen for transfer while many others were not.

I'm pretty upset as I was doing my best with TAT (always made at least 48hr). I will say that they were nice about giving me a few weeks of advanced notice so that I can look for work elsewhere, were willing to provide a reference for me and also told me they would keep me at the top of their hiring list for the future. I'm not going to hold my breath but those sorts of little considerations do make me feel a bit better....

same thing happened to me...had been working with them for about 8 months...

I was impressed with how sincere they were in delivering that message to me. At other large companies I've typed for they would simply pull the accounts without any notification at all. At least they considered the impact that this move would have on me and gave me time as love2type mentioned to look for other work.

Although I don't love the reality of it, I do understand the impact that technology has on any industry and also understand that viva is a business and has to remain competitive.

the first time I was outsourced I had 12 years there and they decided to go with a company from inhospital setting. That was a job in the 80s and made approximately $60,000 a year at that. Found another inhospital job and worked there for approximately 12 years again before outsourced from there. Good money but no surprise like the first time. I will say this, if trying to gain another job because of the VR it might be a long haul as most companies now do VR. Everyone as far as I know is able to dictate on VR, does not matter if their English is sorely lacking and believe you me, I run into that every day I work. I have read that VR only helps people who are slow typists. I do not fall into that category, wpm 130-140 and do quite well with VR. I really do not think I would ever really want a full time straight typing again. Good luck.

thanks for the note and for sharing your experience....it's always nice to know that you're not the only one and you're right that VR is certainly something we all have to deal with now in the market....

I'm actually thinking I might take this opportunity to still type but also get back to some other interests I have which I haven't had time for.

so same thing had happened to me about 4 months ago and then around 2 weeks back I received a call from them that they were looking for an MT to take on some other work they had and wanted to see if I was interested. I said yes and have been typing on 2 accounts with them since.

it was good to see that they really did contact me when there was a need later.

I see people have posted about selling to Viva Transcription and I tried to post there but I couldn't see exactly how. Maybe this will work. I used to work for 3-T and they lost accounts so we let go. Now have been in touch with them because they have obtained new accounts. Anyone else in this position? I think I would like to work for them again but reading the recent posts about the company causes me concern. The glitch now is about the computer. I'm wondering which specialties would be the best ones to target - i.e., more likely to outsource their transcription to an individual transcriptionist, least likely to have EMR or EPIC. It was bad enough that we lost 1 of the accounts that I have had for 13 years last week, but today, without notifying me, I was put on new accounts.....the accounts where they are firing people left and right because of not passing audits.
