What do consider accounts? All the different facilities, which can have a hundred people dictating or individual physician offices? Just curious? As I was warned by some of you kind transcriptionists, I did not get my own hospital where I previouslly worked, but have gotten several large facilities in the state. When I question the supv, she always says "you are primary" on my old hospital. Like to know how that is since I rarely get their dictation and she has admitted there are 2 other transcriptionists working on it!!!!

Usually it's one facility but it could be a group of facilities under one umbrella, like owned by the same hospital group, sometimes with some of the same dictators and usually with similar client profiles.

One account at MModal could have 12 or more different facilities on it. For example, take your old job, the hospital you came from. If that hospital is likely one of many that your TSM is responsible for and your TSM probably has about 100 MTs on her team. Work will flow into the ques of ALL MTs on your team based on turn around time, regardless of primaries.

Sure, you are likely set up to recieve work from that hospital first, but if there are 30 other MTs on working the same shift you are, its likley that you WILL NOT CATCH ALL THE WORK coming in from your primary even though you are set up to recieve that work first. Its based on TAT and which ever MT's que frees up first, they will be the one to get that job based on TAT.

If you work between the hours of 8am and 5am it happens that way because there are a lot more MTs working during those hours. If you are working 2nd or 3rd shift then there are less MTs working and you will be more likely to get the bulk of your work from primary.

My primary has very short turn around times so I dont get as much of their work when I first start my shift, but towards the end of my shift and on weekends, I get a lot of work from my primaries.

The problem there was we were "promised" we would continue to do our hospital's work. That didn't last any more than what we were guaranteed as far as pay.

your primary is. Even if you are set up to recieve work from your old hospital first, you will still get work from other accounts and vice versa with other MTs. I understand your frustration. I was once in your shoes and was outsourced myself some years back. I did'nt have any problems with the pay, it was what they promised in the contract, but it took me a minute to realize that I was not going to be typing/editing solely for the hospital I came from. Sorry, but those wonderful days as a hospital MT are over unless you can find another local job. Welcome to the world of MTSOs. I sympathize.

Your old hospital is likely not on an account all by - itself. It is probably on an

account with a few others. I have 3 primary accounts at MM, but there are many other hospitals in my group and I get work from all of them.

I am sick to death of being bounced all over the place! I would love to force the QA lead and CCM to swich every 10 minutes as well... Recently I was told the account I've been on for the past decade is going to voice recognition. I'm wondering which specialties would be the best ones to target - i.e., more likely to outsource their transcription to an individual transcriptionist, least likely to have EMR or EPIC. The worst thing to me is when you get a few jobs in a row and try to build up some momentum, then OOW again!
