Webmedx something going on ....not good - anon

Posted: Feb 16, 2011

Just wondering if anyone else is feeling something is really not right here, a feeling of foreboding, afraid to check my e-mail. From getting e-mails about pauses being reported as too high (from MModal's program), being told to blank it instead of spending so much time on research. Then getting e-mail about too high of a percentage of QA. Then from others have heard they have been fired for not meeting the state minimum wage. A big increase in HIPAA violations, more than likely due to trying like crazy to do all of the above, mixed messages...slow down and verify, NO speed up so you don't have that high pause rate, NO hurry up or you won't make minimum wage.

Originally we were told there would be certain physicians who would never be on ISR...but I am not seeing that. I have had some absolutely pits. A 15 minute dictation ISR and I had 30 lines, edits up the wazoo, he changed his mind repeatedly and then deleted a whole paragraph, said it was a mistake, and yes I made less than minimum wage on this report at ISR pay rates. But wait, we are not allowed to report these for removal from ISR, this is not one of the allowed reasons!

Today's e-mail says do not deviate from your schedule for any reason, unless you give plenty of notice, and no PTO for Friday through Monday.

I have a very very bad feeling in my bones, just wondering if anyone else is feeling the same?

Maybe it's your STM. Mine is not saying sm - Lola

anything about no PTO or schedule deviations; maybe your particular accts need really tight coverage?

I look at reminders about percent to IQA as just that - reminders, not scoldings. I think they want people to be aware of what they are doing, with the pause percent thing, etc.

I feel uneasy too. My STM is cold and snappy. I never - get an individual compliment anymore. nm

No bad feeling here. Everything is business as usual, no complaints or foreboding. - nm

Do get the feeling they're tightening up on - schedule compliance and production.

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm wobbly on schedule compliance and will tighten up, thus minimizing my own foreboding to just an oh-oh. No problem with production or QA, so no messages there.

I'm not crazy about it either, but some tightening up is probably an inevitable result of heavy competition in the field for clients willing to pay less and less and wanting shorter and shorter TAT. Optimize returns from employees to optimize profits. Good management means stable company means stable job.

As long as it doesn't lead to erasing what makes production work at home better than hourly pay in-house.

Good luck, OP.

I think this is like when they went from 35 to 40 hours per week for FT. Pushing to get more from each MT (at a now lower rate) so they can cut down on number of MTs and benefit packages. They could save quite a lot on holiday pay and vacation pay that way. JMO but I think they are whipping us to get us to put ourselves out of work quicker

AND HERE COMES THE VERY PREDICTABLE MANAGEMENT - Plant

minimum wage doing transcription, you shouldn't be in this field. What would that be? 100 lines an hour?

If you do not work for Webmedx you have no idea - what we are up against

Some day it may happen to you and you might get a smug, snappy reply. See how it feels.

The day I can't type 100 LPH is the day I hang up my keyboard. nm - No Flame, just Fact

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't care what platform or company - that's barely one line a second. Wow.
typing speed is NOT the issue here - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
Please read my initial post again. My straight transcription speed BEFORE ISR was 250+. Then ISR came, and I lagged for a while, but learned keyboard remapping, all the shortcuts, and can often get to 300 to 350 lph on a job that does not involve more than 30% editing (which they promised their "perfect" MModal product would deliver.

Now, however, at least 30% of the ISR is from the worst of the worst dictators, I am good at ESL, this is not the problem, it is the mumblers, dictating on cell phones, changing their minds constantly so that a 15-minute length dictation yielded me 30 lines, and I pretty much had to retype the entire report. And you mean to tell me that making 5 cents a line for 30 lines ($1.50!) on a 15-minute length report, you could do better, and beat minimum wage? Please do not comment if you can't read the original post!
Amen, sister!! nm - sick of it 2

for min wage with my pay rate. I know, that is still pretty low, but when you factor in ISR rate, 90% ISR work, crappy audio, it is very easy to fall below min wage. Please read OPs original and followup note. Like "anon," I do well with ESL (I'm a weirdo who prefers them over Americans), and straight typing speed is pretty fast. Heck, even basic editing speed is not too shabby, but there are too many editing jobs that are pure garbage. And will someone PLEASE outlaw dictation done on cellphones?

No, if you cant make min. wage doing transcription, it - means your employer is jerking you around.

I've been noticing the same things, and feel the same way - except that instead of webmedx, s/m

I work at Acusis. The same poo-poo is going on there. They want 100% accuracy. No blanks. No QA submissions. All while transcribing for the world's worst dictators.

Webmedx-used To Be A Good Job
Aug 30, 2010

Where is all the work?  Are you giving it to the newbies you trained in your acquired school?  What about us loyal employees?  Employer of the year a joke.  Left out here flapping in the wind with no word on what is going on except losing accounts left and right and not enough work to go around.  Moving to new system but no word on that.  Where are you, employer of the year?  Have you abandoned us? ...

Instant Text Good For Webmedx/Enterprise?
Mar 07, 2011

For any WMXers, past or present, I need a word expander. ShortHand is simply not working out for me, have to back up way too much to correct unexpanded abbrevs. I currently have a frustration headache and have had enough of this. Customer Support will not help me, and none of the suggestions found on this forum or the WMX ShortHand forum helped (thank you for trying to help, though). Is Instant Text a good program to use for new Enterprise, i.e. does it expand like it supposed to at least t ...

Webmedx - So I Heard That They Fired All The Good Mgrs And Now Are Taking Away Things From Everyone?
Apr 26, 2011

I heard it used to be a good place where you had 10 to 12 hours to do your shift? And now it has cut everyone to a strict 8 hour schedule.  Is that true?   And that you are in a big pool of a bunch of work where it is hard to get a good line count?  I wanted to apply  but now have second thoughts.   ...

2014 - Not A Good Year For This MT — But I Found A Good Fit (finally)
Jan 12, 2015

Rarely do I start discussion on mtstars - however, 2014 was a particularly challenging year for myself - an experienced MT/Editor (15+ years). However, I realize that many other MTs may be in the same position, i.e., having many years devoted to working at the Big MTSOs including “the M,” and “the N” and (now to be included) “the T” following close behind in total numbers of MT/Editors on staff. (Hint: Sure most of you know the M, the N and the T - and the names have been int ...

Good Friday; Good Bye Spheris
Apr 02, 2010

Well Good Friday to me.  I left Spheris.  It is indeed the best Friday for me in a very long time.  I've had it with their lousy platform, Mafia QA (they try their best to kill your spirit), mandatory this, mandatory that, do this, don't do that, change this, don't change that; no, don't change this, don't change that, and on and on and on, and now their bankruptcy.  No PTO for the next 4 months to keep the clients satisfied during ...

Webmedx Needs To Pay
Apr 24, 2010

The unremarkable Wedmedx needs to pay for the downtime MTs are incurring because they want to switch everything over to their horrendous ISR.  The unremarkable Webmedx requires 1 to 4 hours to get new computers up and running and yet we production people are supposed to make up that time or use our PTO time or just not get paid.  The unremarkable Webmedx just hired new people and gave them bonuses to sign on but can't pay their longtime loyal employees for time lost due to no ...

Webmedx MTs
Sep 03, 2010

I just want you to know what a phenomenal job I think you all did on those atrocious accounts.  I QA'ed your work and was amazed at what you could decipher out of those dictations.  You are all amazing MTs in my eyes and any company out there would be lucky to have you working for them. I am so sorry we are all going through this but everything happens for a reason, so they say.  Let's just hope we all have brighter days ahead of us and better things. I was blessed to wo ...

Webmedx Pay Better Than Most
Oct 16, 2010

I know a lot of MTs and I keep getting calls to get on MTStars and read the latest bashing of Webmedx.  So when I finished work today I decided to do just that.  To hear all of your complaints I wonder if this is the same company I've been working for all these years. I've been editing since ISR started with them and it took me about a year to make up and at times exceed where I was.  Now I prefer ISR.  The long and the short of it is that as long as Webmedx keeps ...

WebMedX And M-TEC

I will be graduating in April 2012 and would like to start making some employment plans. ANY INF ...

Comparison Of ASR With Webmedx And MQ.
