Good Friday; Good Bye Spheris - nocode

Well Good Friday to me. I left Spheris. It is indeed the best Friday for me in a very long time. I've had it with their lousy platform, Mafia QA (they try their best to kill your spirit), mandatory this, mandatory that, do this, don't do that, change this, don't change that; no, don't change this, don't change that, and on and on and on, and now their bankruptcy. No PTO for the next 4 months to keep the clients satisfied during the changeover (yet supe takes PTO for a whole week after we are told we can't). Mixed messages whether or not MQ will be taking over. I'm not waiting to find out. I will not work for MQ, but I don't care who gets to buy this company. I'm just thrilled Spheris went bankrupt. Fortunately for me I am old enough to get Social Security and will only lose about $50 a month for taking it early. I've decided I will manage to get by on that rather than lose my sanity over a job that I used to truly love but now I absolutely hate. I really feel sorry for my coworkers who are left behind at Spheris who feel as I do.

To get SS you have to be at least 62, but it is at a reduced monthly rate for the rest of your life. Your monthly rate increases each month the longer you wait after 62 until your full retirement age (for me 66).

mixed messages? you know the decision lies with Court and when that date is. - there are several platforms and QA; not all bad.

I have had the same 2 QA for 7 years and they have always been decent.

I understand being frustrated with the mandatory overtime, but as discussed in the recent team call (assuming you are on the same account as me), we were told the overtime was being required because of people quitting with no notice. I also remember the supes saying they both work each weekend and on their days off - I know I saw the supe who was scheduled for PTO on the system every day so I tend to believe them when they tell us they may take "PTO" but are actually still here working. I think the "mixed messages" are because they don't have solid information yet. How can they tell us who is the final winning bidder if the bids have not been open yet? I am just happy to have a job at all in this market - I wish I didn't have to keep working overtime, but since I see that yet another MT has quit, the rest of us will just have to pick up your slack.

I don't have any problems with the platform, haven't ever had a problem with QA, mixed messages have been extremely rare, and I have taken off at least 1 day a week since the bankruptcy. However, I really don't want to work for Medquist, but will hang in here and see how it goes before making any rash decisions.

Makes no difference that I know of to the dictator. Doesn't save him or her any money. Probably a negative for the patient, as I sincerely believe there is a bigger chance of their medical record being less than accurate. I have been an MT for 8 years before moving up to the MME position recently. I told myself that I would never nitpick as I experienced in the past. I still hold true to that. We are to only fill in the blanks unless we note an obvious error, then its full QA, except we get paid the fill-in-the-blank line rate rather than 100% QA line rate (3 cpl rather than 4). After struggling financially and being increasingly unhappy with my job for three years (yes, only three years) I am officially DONE with MT work. I have other skills that would be more fullfilling to pursue and i'm going to do it. Honestly, i'd settle for a job at a grocery store at this point. At least i'd have a steady paycheck. ITS HORRIBLE and you are barely making your lines for that night? This is like clockwork. I will have a good day of dictation, speakers that actually make sense eventhough the VR still stinks and high line counts...the very next day, I am stuck with the worst speakers out there and barely get anything done and line counts to make you cry. I had been feeling so fortunate, getting mostly good dictators in recent months, but now, in the past couple of weeks, all I'm getting are dictators with thick accents with bad sound quality and static or female dicators with high-pitched, monotone voices that are like fingernails on a chalk board. I could do MT in my sleep. I fill in blanks with almost a 100% completion rate. My QA scores are excellent. Any specialty, name it, I know it. And yet I'm embarrassed to tell anyone what I do because NOBODY CARES ANYMORE. And I can't find a job doing anything else either. There just aren't any jobs that really require this skill.
