Webmedx - So I heard that they fired all the good mgrs and now are taking away things from everyone? - Snoopy

Posted: Apr 26, 2011

I heard it used to be a good place where you had 10 to 12 hours to do your shift? And now it has cut everyone to a strict 8 hour schedule.  Is that true?   And that you are in a big pool of a bunch of work where it is hard to get a good line count?  I wanted to apply  but now have second thoughts.

Not so far - anon

I still have a 12 hour shift and the same 3 accounts I have had for years. Not saying things might change in the future (any company can at any time), but for right now the only thing that has changed for me is the way OT is handled now.

No company is perfect and the whole profession is changing. Apply if you like. Don't be scared off by what you hear. Try it out for yourself. Everyone has a difference experience. Good Luck.

Do NOT apply - It is the PITS now!

They have a new "manager" from the firm they bought out in Tennessee who does not have the first clue how to run a transcription operation and too vain to take suggestion from those who do. Unless and until she is gone, stay away from this quickly spinning out of control mess!

May I ask what position you hold that provides - access to apparently

inside information? I'm an MT at home and never know squat.

Still a good company - anon

Definitely apply. It is still a very good company. They did a restructuring of managers, so many of the managers still remain. Like any company out there, there was/is some streamlining that was done, not just on the bottom but managers were streamlined also. I highly recommend Webmedx. Those that don't usually feel that way because they can't get a good line count so they blame it on everyone else buy themselves. There are many of us who get excellent line counts are able to make very good paychecks. As for the schedules, for the most part, it is 8 hours. But those that complain must realize that in order for accounts to stay in TAT, there must be a better system of schedules. Having a 10 to 12 hour window is not a very reliable schedule for production. And before any one says it, I am not a suit, management or anything else they call people. I just happen to really like this company.
I agree with you. But, no matter what you say, you'll be accused of - being a suit. nm

There are pluses and minuses just like with any company. There are still some good people here. There are also some in management that do not have a clue. Those who are on the team that is losing a big account have had to tighten up schedules, but I guess it is not across the board from reading the other comments. However, they did allow some flexibility in some cases with split shifts, but during those hours you need to do your work. A lot of people are leaving, there will probably be work, but as with anything part of your experience, negative or positive, will be determined by who your AM is and what accounts you get. You can discuss this with the recruiter, and personally I still like most of the AMs, just not crazy about this new pooling so you are jumping all over, not getting 2 reports in a row from same account, and trying to keep all the account specs straight! Again, another reported this was not happening to them, but I know many that have had this, including me. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

Yes, I also do not like jumping among the several - accounts I am assigned to. I used to

consider one my "bread and butter" account because I was so familiar with it that I could really knock out that part of my day's work. Now I have little experience with most of the dictators I'm getting and none with many. Not good for production at all, as my hourly earnings show clearly.

I also had something really awful last week for the first time--nearly two hours earning <2/3 pay separating little progress notes into separate reports. Now, that's just the way it goes sometimes (worst case!), but I no longer have the main account to help hold the averages up; and since they don't assign work any more, I know there definitely won't be any fast stuff funneled my way to offset the loss. I actually felt abused, and that's both very unusual for me and new for me at this company.

Still good - MT

It's still a good company. Now that the dust has settled a bit, the management changes have turned out to be a good thing. We're getting account questions answered faster, which makes me happy. The pool changes didn't impact me much because I thrive on variety. The newly announced pay and bonus plan aren't making me smile, but from digging through old paperwork even these are better than what I had with prior employers.

I have read so many good things about Opti-Script - tested recently but no openings right now.  Low turnover rate - which is GOOD!  So I'll wait.....So many slave shop companies out there - I don't want to go that route. Discouraged That QA Is Taking All The Good Work
Jun 26, 2014

While I sit here with the boring run-of-the-mill work. I know they are allowed to do this, but it doesn't mean I have to agree with it. I don't blame them. I blame the powers that be who decided that was okay. I'm bored out of my mind. I really am. Maybe I should send some more work their way so I can get some decent work that won't put me to sleep. No, probably not a good idea. When I was working as a QA, I sure didn't do that. Just a vent. ...

Is There Really Noone Who Thinks Taking The CMT Exam Is A Good Idea?

I am studying for the CMT exam, but the process is taking the joy out of my life.  I noticed that on a previous post, everyone unanimously voted NO regarding the question about whether the CMT is worthwhile anymore.  I am seriously considering dropping the idea of sitting the CMT exam.  Am I making a mistake?  (I really do not want to take jobs of increased responsibility in the field, just make sure I stay employed.)  I'd appreciate your words of wisdom. ...

Got Fired From The Q - Ha Ha
Feb 24, 2010

Well, I was officially fired yesterday.  Up until last summer, I was one of their top producers, never having an accuracy problem.  The reason I got fired?  I got sick. Early last summer, I let a UTI go for 10 days (lived off Rx strength OTC Pyridium) until I was severely septic and urinating almost pure blood and clots.  I also had a kidney infection, kidney stones and bladder stones.  Thought it was over.  IIRC, the urinary organism was proteus mirabilis.  I ...

Getting Fired
Apr 01, 2010

Isn't it odd that being fired from MQ isn't a disgrace?  Being fired from any other place would be total humiliation, but I don't think anybody here would ever look down on another MT who was let go.  MQ doesn't discriminate.  They justly fire bad MTs, but they also fire good MTs who are stuck with crummy accounts, accounts that constantly have NJA, and probably a ton of reasons that are beyond our control.  ...
