Encompass and WebMedX - LPMT

I am looking at joining either the Encompass Medical Transcription team or the WebMedX team. Can anyone give me an opinion on either company? Specifically, what are the like to work for? I need details.

Overall, I like Webmedx. Great team leaders, responsive. Require 5000 lines per week (40-hour week). Good incentive plan. We did just undergo a pay reduction for VR; not happy with that, but this is an industry-wide occurrence. Lousy medical insurance (in my opinion). It's BC/BS PPO, about $73 per pay period for single. Good dental. 6 paid holidays a year (yay!). When I started 1-1/2 yrs ago, PTO was only 24 hours for the first year; after first year, changes to 10 PTO days a year. Not sure if first year restriction still applies. They don't outsource. I'm happy there, after coming from 7 years at MQ which started out as a wonderful company and then crashed and burned.

Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it. I too worked for MedQuist my two years right after school, but it did not take long for me to figure out that they were really screwing things up.

They overhire and plan on going 100% VR - no work and sick of it

I was happy at Webmedx for 2 years, but my honeymoon is over. I've been trying to find something else, because I can't afford to work here any more. They told us by this time next year they want to make all their accounts VR. The future doesn't look too pretty at this company.

planning to go VR as much as possible? This is the way of the future for the industry. Even if they want to convert all accounts, doesn't mean 100% of the work will be on VR; some accounts, worktypes or physicians will never be amenable to voice rec. Editing is here to stay, though, so if you cannot adapt it is time to get out of the industry.

Although not much info on Encompass, everyone I know at Webmedx is not happy and struggling to stay alive. What we don't understand is with the lack of work to go around for existing MT's, they continue to hire???

I really don't get why they keep recruiting, but it makes me furious when I haven't been able to get a full 40 hours for the last 2 months there.

Enterprise? Many Enterprise accounts are running OT and have been for a while now. New accounts are coming on this month. The only employees I've heard of w/o enough work are Radiology -are you rad?

Otherwise I don't understand how anyone can continue to be out of work when there is a consistent push for us to get in 40 hours a week. How do you get away with it?

The OT on the boards can be deceiving-OT gets approved "in case" we get close to TAT on my accounts even though there is no work on them! How do they "get away with" approving OT on accounts where we can't get 40 hours - and they know we don't? Just a way to deny there's a problem and make things look better than they actually are...so people like YOU will see the OT approvals and presume everything is fine. Unless you're actually ON the OT approved accounts receiving that OT, you really don't KNOW, do you?

That's where your problem lies - radiology is notoriously low and probably in this industry going to dwindle to nothing, since it is so conducive to physicians editing their own reports.

Stop complaining about how they are overhiring b/c it is for accounts and worktypes that you are either unqualified for, or unwilling to transcribe. They have to hire to cover the needs unless MTs such as you are willing to learn acute care.

I am not the only person who knows they overhire - head in sand much?

Nor do I need to argue with you about what's wrong with ME vs our employer. I was one of the fools defending them in the past, like you are now. Since you are not in my shoes, its easy to judge from the comfy catbird seat. Your party will end just like mine did - the hard way.

Webmedx is soo proud of itself because it doesn't offshore, yet it subcontracts IC through companies that do. There have been employees of this type on my accounts before, and of course I am not privy to the names and subcontract affiliations of everyone I am competing for work with at any given moment because I am not management.

First of all, how do you know that they subcontract ICs through companies that outsourse? And second, you stated that you know there have been employees lof that type on your accounts before, but then in the same breath you say that you don't know the names. How can you jump to conclusions without any real information other than your guess?

You can't go by MT names either because there are plenty of foreign people here in the US LEGALLY and they have every right to work just as we do.

I tested with both and know I did well (lots of experience with this stuff) but have heard nothing back from Probity and got a letter of interest from Encompass, which I responded to, then NADA. Has anyone actually been able to move forward recently with getting a job at either place?! Something new that's being instituted since our recent acquisition by Nuance, so maybe Focus is using it already? Looks like a way to get even pickier about QA, in my opinion, which our incentives are based upon. I've been really happy about the way Encompass has done QA up until this time. The unremarkable Wedmedx needs to pay for the downtime MTs are incurring because they want to switch everything over to their horrendous ISR. The unremarkable Webmedx requires 1 to 4 hours to get new computers up and running and yet we production people are supposed to make up that time or use our PTO time or just not get paid.
