Webmedx employees--question about slowness - EmmaMT

Hi fellow Webmedxers...

Just got a new computer AND started on New Version Enterprise. Issues galore, the biggest being slowness--what I mean is it seems like when I start transcribing fast as usual, the software (?) struggles to keep up with me and slightly pauses here and there and then misspells words--it's driving me CRAZY. I'm usually a high producer but right now that's gone to pot. Anyone know exactly WHAT is causing this craziness--the new computer or new EP? I am tending to think it is the new computer. All I know is I never had these problems before and I've been with the company for quite a while. Tech support and any higher up person I talk to doesn't give any answers either.

...and if so that would explain it. I use M-modal at a different company and have the EXACT same problems you are describing. I have always been a high producer but since going to M-Modal VR I feel like I actually am hitting keys faster than the software can execute them sometimes. Jobs loading and sending also take 8-15 seconds each, which is another annoyance. My vote is that it's the software platform.

You are correct--it is M*Modal. However, this occurs in reports that are straight typed as well (M*Modal isn't just for VR, is it?) but I am guessing this is because M*Modal is in with our platform and affects everything. If so, they HAVE to get rid of it...grrrrr

I experience it whether using M-Modal for VR or straight typing. It seems to be the M-modal software itself. I sooo hate it! Unfortunately, it seems that a lot of companies are purchasing it as it must be cheaper than others such as Escription. Many companies also set the M-Modal VR acceptance rate lower at like 75%, which just makes our jobs on this software even more difficult. Once again, it's all about the money....for them that is.

Does anyoen else hear the weird buzzing noise? It happens only in the morning, and gets annoying. Also, at the end of an ISR dictation, when the dictation ends, the hangup noise is very loud that I have to move the headphone away from my ears.

I hate that sound too! Sometimes it really hurts my ears. I try to make sure to keep my eye on the bar that shows the dictation length and stop about 1-2 seconds before the end.

Oh yeah, M Modal is slow to load, slow to change worktypes, and yes I also have the problem with my expansions hanging up and me getting ahead of them. I've noticed when more people are working on my account, it seems to go even slower. I hate the tiny spellchecker too. :(
Do like the automatic formatting for headings between accounts, but that is about it.

My guess is that M*Modal, in the guise of New Version Enterprise, is your main problem, but the new computer might be exacerbating it a little. When I first started on NVE, it was impossible to use it on the computer they had provided for old version. They sent additional RAM which I installed. I can use it much more effectively now, but there is still a considerable lag when completing one report and waiting for another to load (up to one minute), and I still have a lot of problems with the voice file bogging down and causing those pauses and misspelled words you mentioned. You might want to ask the techies to verify that you have enough RAM to run the program effectively and have them set you up with an additional memory stick if you don't.

As far as the residual issues go, I've been working on New Version just about since its inception, and I've finally been forced to acknowledge that it's not going to get any better and it's time to look for a new career. It's a shame, too; I really enjoy working for Webmedx.

I'm trying to decide if I want to joint the Webmedx team and would love to ask a couple questions before speaking with the recruiter. During a typical day do you know if the next job you are pulling from the "pool" will be either straight transcription or VR? Does it bounce between the 2? Would you say it is 50/50? Say you are hired p/t, does that mean you can work any 4 hours in a 12 hour window? Could you work more if you if you want to? Appreciate answers to any/ ...

I just started on Fluency (came from Acquisitions) and notice some of the AutoHotKey shortcuts I created for VR have a lag. I have a separate PC and a laptop, so have a computer used only for work that I bought about 2 years ago. I have 6 GB of RAM. I've uninstalled a previous MTSO platform and there are no other programs loaded except for Instant Text and AutoHotKey, yet my CPU usage is ridiculously high when I'm working. I was just curious about what employees thought of Nuance on Glassdoor. You read several US employee opinions and they reflect the morale listed on MTStars. Scroll further down and read the opinions of the transcriptionists from India. What a difference. They are highly satisfied with their jobs and most have been working with Nuance for 6 to 7 years. The unremarkable Wedmedx needs to pay for the downtime MTs are incurring because they want to switch everything over to their horrendous ISR. The unremarkable Webmedx requires 1 to 4 hours to get new computers up and running and yet we production people are supposed to make up that time or use our PTO time or just not get paid.
