Fluency and slowness - MT

I just started on Fluency (came from Acquisitions) and notice some of the AutoHotKey shortcuts I created for VR have a lag. I have a separate PC and a laptop, so have a computer used only for work that I bought about 2 years ago. I have 6 GB of RAM. I've uninstalled a previous MTSO platform and there are no other programs loaded except for Instant Text and AutoHotKey, yet my CPU usage is ridiculously high when I'm working. It's 50-60% CPU and it sometimes spikes at 100! For example, this laptop with 14 browser windows open and lots of loaded programs only runs at about 15% (though I have 8 GB of RAM). I can't imagine I have to add more RAM to my work computer, or do I? Anybody else notice this? I read where some MTs recommended periodically rebooting during the shift. I've been doing that and it definitely helps, but wish I didn't have to take the time out from production to do it.

It is slow, cumbersome, never learns corrections we make on VR editing.

I have worked on 2 mmodal platforms.. Fluency and Speech Motion.. both were HORRID... how on earth can they still be in business when their IT people have no skill?

I completely disagree with you. ASR stinks, yes. - But the software platform itself is very good.

Go try out Nuance's eBTXT system and then come back here and say that Fluency stinks.

In Fluency turn off the spell check as you go. One I did that, it no longer uses up the cpu and haven't had a lag problem since.

Fluency is a great platform. Sounds like somethinf else - could be wrong. SM

Its not normal to have 14 to 15 browser windows open. That doesn't sound like a platform issue. What platform did you use before? You should probably try calling tech support. Also no way should it be using 50 to 100% CPU. I really dont think fluency is your problem. :-)

Should call tech support because it shouldn't be running that slow or using that much memory. Are. You sure its compatible with instatext and the autohotkey program your running?

have worked in a couple other companies and this is by far the most user friendly platform I have found. The ASR on the other hand is a joke and killing me.

Yes, my expanders are compatible. I'm pretty sure it's Fluency because I've used two other transcription platforms (which I've uninstalled) on this same computer with no problem. The only change I've made to the computer since then is Fluency.

Have had that issue recurring, and the last time there were a lot of temporary files in Fluency that were deleted, but still had issues. Upgraded Windows and Internet Explorer 8 on this XP program company owned computer. Finally was told by "domestic resolution dept" that i needed faster ISP after checking up-down speed on speedtest.com (or some such site) - even though the desktop taskbar showed 100 mbps Tech chuckled and said cannot rely on that, needed to have at least up/down 2 kbp, but I had to get 3 Kbp from ISP to guarantee that speed. No kidding! The program upgrades and virus scanning i hardly notice now. now pay over $100 per month just for ISP in rural Midwest (10 miles from a great tech university - go figure!) What really POed me was that the International Tech support expected me to suffer this issue over days, and they wanted to see error messages to prove what was going on. I used a lot of PTO for downtime (2 mos ago). Summary: Tech support needs to delete temporary files in Fluency, and higher speed combination solved my issue so far.

Hi fellow Webmedxers... Just got a new computer AND started on New Version Enterprise. Issues galore, the biggest being slowness--what I mean is it seems like when I start transcribing fast as usual, the software (?) struggles to keep up with me and slightly pauses here and there and then misspells words--it's driving me CRAZY. I'm am away from home with my laptop and need to work tomorrow morning. I thought I had Fluency 7.2 loaded on here, but I don't. It's version 7.1. Loaded 7.4 on my own computer. Downloaded and put icon on desktop but I am unable to open it. I sometimes will have this problem if I load links from MM through IE. I used Chrome and FireFox but still unable to open... Spoke to techs in India and they said it is because I'm using my own computer and to contact a domestic tech through my TSM.
