Transportal - being cheated out of pay/lines - notMTing4free

Posted: Oct 06, 2010

I was reading through some of the responses on the board regarding Transportal regarding being cheated out of pay/lines, other people getting credit for reports that other MTs typed.  Did this involve the clinic accounts or the hospital accounts?  I was offered a position typing for the clinic accounts and was wondering how the workload was, pay issues, AMs and QAs as far communication goes, and other general information before I make a decision.  Thanks in advance for any information you care to provide.

Most of their work is clinic work. They have little hospital work (acute care, they do have ER).

The program they use is Scribe and THAT is where the issue is. And yes, there are ways that you get cheated out of lines you did, if you are opening a job another MT had already opened and then closed w/o completing the report. And you get told, they're sorry about that :)

It's an okay gig depending on what accounts you're on. There's a lot of accounts where you don't get enough work, are held from working until a particular time (whether it works with YOUR working schedule or not). And heaven forbid you work for a certain acct manager and have a sick child or become ill yourself.

Ended up being too much micro management for me and then trying to get lines in so you don't fall below production contract, well, let's just say I'm in a happier place now.

I have been working for Transportal for the past year, and I have not had the same experiences that some have had. I have never been cheated out of lines/pay, etc. I have found that as long as I get my line count in, which I have never had a problem doing, they pretty much leave me alone. Have never had a problem running out of work either. If anything, the opposite. Most of time there is weekend work if you want it. I cannot think of any major concerns with working for them. Good luck!

I tested with them but have not heard anything. I know I past the objective part of the test. How long was it until you heard from them?

I don't really remember. I think they let me know about passing the tests right away and said they would get in touch with me, but I think I actually called them back after I had not heard from them within a week or 2.

I heard from them the next day. - nm

It took me about 6 weeks to hear anything from the time I tested.

I have been there for over two years and have a great set of accounts with absolutely no ESL physicians. I never run out of work and am often asked if I can assist with extra. I am left alone and have only the necessary communication with my supervisor. Pay is decent (not great), but always on time. Not sure why some have different experiences, but it is a good home for me and I plan to hang around.

Agree with the platform for clinic not being the best, sm - Current TP employee

I absolutely hate the system as you have to type a great number of clinic notes to get lines and this system just sucks for going in and out of patients (you have to use your mouse constantly in this system). The pay is good. No problem with getting it on time. The issue of other people getting paid for what you do is true. If someone else has checked out a job and it shows theirinitials on it, then that person will get the lines typed in that document. The other thing that sucks is that you are all no a board where you see everything there is to do, and if someone doesn't want to type a job, well they can just get off and wait for someone else to type it. This would be the sneaky way of cherry picking. It happens all the time. The best thing to do is just learn all your doctors so there are no issues when they start doing this to you. Other than these things, I think it is a pretty good place to work. I have run out of work on several occasions. That is typical but I generally get a decent amount of lines in for a pay period.

I also do have to agree - suzmt

with the cherry picking - It seems like everyone gets out when there is a long list of one of the horrible dictators and then once they have all been typed, magically 5 or 6 more people just happen to be back on typing! It is very annoying - but I just try to ignore it and get my lines.

Which platform are you referring to, Script or - doc signing

another? Are you talkng about the multispeciality accounts? I was offered a job so am very curious. Thanks for any info.

Transportal And 1200 Lines A Day
Sep 29, 2011

I may be seeking a new position, and in general, due to possible better flexibility, I prefer to work as an IC. I read that transportal does hire ICs, but I also read that they require 1200 lines per day, and you have 3 months to get to that minimum. I must confess that, on the account I have worked for years, it is a struggle to make 1,000 lines per day. Maybe it is the platform. Maybe it is the fact that the account is always making changes or has a ton of "exceptions" to the 20-page guideline ...

I Feel Cheated
Dec 10, 2011

I'm on a huge account with a huge company (the one that is taking over the planet right now).  Most of the time I get editing and I have to really scramble to make enough, because of course they pay less than half what I used to get for straight transcription.   But this morning I got lucky and pulled up a discharge that was straight transcription that was 21 minutes long.  I finished the whole thing and tried to upload it.  EditScript gave me a message that it was not ...

Is It True That FOCUS, Only Counts Half Of Your Lines When Calculating VR Lines?
Jan 30, 2012

if you make 4 cents per line at 1000 lines a day, they really calculate it at 500 lines per day x 4 cents, making it really 2 cents per line for the full 1000.   I heard this, and I am really interested in knowing if it is true. ...

Told Nuance Was Overcharging For Lines, Now Lines Drastically Reduced
May 02, 2012

My main account was a good one, and the lines were very good, mostly ER work. I have been on this account for over a year and a half now. We recently received an e-mail stating that Nuance had discovered that the line count was charging incorrectly, as instituted by them, and they had been crediting us with MORE lines than we were actually doing and overcharging the client. Now get this, they informed us that they would not make US pay it back, for their mistake, but that our new lines would re ...

TransTech Lines - Required Hours But Are Short Lines?
Jun 10, 2011

What do you do when you have the required hours but are short lines? I got an email that I need to "make plans to have my shortage made up." The only problem is that I'm up to date with my hours for the pay period so far. The other problem is that I have plans Saturday night and Sunday (both being my scheduled time off) that don't include TransTech. It's getting harder and harder to defend this company when they can't hold up their end of the agreement and continually ...

TransTech Lines - How Many Lines Do You Average During The Day/week?
Jan 19, 2011

Just wondering if the TT MTs would like share ... how many lines do you average during the day/week?  I'm doing about 9,000 to 10,000 a week and wonder if I should be pushing myself more.  How much of your count is VR?  I do probably 15% traditional and 85% VR but that, of course, varies week to week.   ...

TransTech Lines - How Many Lines Do You Average Per Day
Jul 13, 2011

How many lines do you average per day - VR and traditional?  I know it's been VERY slow lately, but when things are going well, how many lines do you normally get? I'm trying to figure out where the average numbers are.  For me, I do about 350 trad and about 1400 VR in 8 hours. Well, my timesheet says 8 hours, but my clock says that number MAY(!) be a little higher.  Again, these are numbers I pull when things are going well and I'm not waiting for work to download. I'v ...

Mar 29, 2011

Just got hired with them... and I'm on my last day of the first pay period... and let me tell you!!!   If you get an offer... RUN!! It sounds good, but is far from it!  Their sound files are horrible, they don't pay you any kind of training pay ( which I mistakenly MISSED on my part!! oops.. won't make that mistake again), and only give you LIMITED WORK while on QA review which amounts to like 200-300 lines a day!, and.... they have no account specifics whatsoever f ...

What's Up With TransPortal (IC) ???
Jan 03, 2015

pay 8 cents a line?  This is awfully low for an IC position isn't it?  I mean, when you are IC don't you have to pay your own taxes and have no benefits at all?  So in essence it's a lot less than 8 cents.  Are they out of the their minds or is this how long IC jobs are paying now?  Around 10 years ago when I considered an IC job it paid 13-15 cents a line to offset.  ???? ...
