too bad it is such BS that you have to be on FB to make comments - boy do I have some comments...

I hate FB but am so glad a few people did speak the truth in their comments.

FB should draw awareness to the injustices also, not just the glitz and - glitter

This article stated things exactly how Nuance and all the MTSOs have operated for years and are still getting away with it. Oh, yes, they offered jobs to their existing loyal employees....where is the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help us God?

Way back in the 70s when services were taking over in-house jobs, the liar MTSOs at that time were reassuring the doctors that all of their work would be done by the same people in-house. That is what they were telling the doctors. They had no intention of hiring any one, and one in fact questioned the owner and she said that the office was too far for her to travel to. Lies were then and now it has become their platform. That was the beginning of Transend, who had come home base in Georgia and came to acquire DataLogix. Where are they now...evil tactics monopolized by the Big Kahuna.

For those not on FB. - The article.

Excela Health switches to outside transcribers
By Bob Stiles Staff Reporter
Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, 12:01 a.m.

Excela Health System is switching to a new way of doing medical transcription for doctors and other health care professionals.

Excela has joined with Nuance Communications for medical transcription services, spokeswoman Robin Jennings said.

The change takes effect Tuesday.

âAs of Nov. 11, we will no longer do transcription internally,â Jennings said. âWhat this really is is an upgrade in health information management technology.â

With Nuance, doctors will use voice-recognition software to produce a transcript of notes or similar records about a patient. The transcriptionists then review those statements for accuracy before they become part of electronic or other medical records.

Currently, the transcriptionists listen to recordings and convert them into written reports, Jennings explained.

âWhat you want is to increase the turnaround time,â she said.

The approximately 20 employees who handled transcriptions for Excela were offered jobs with Nuance, starting about a month ago, she said.

Neither Jennings nor Nuance spokeswoman Ann Joyal could say how many Excela employees joined Nuance or specifically what their pay or health benefits might be.

âIt's still to be finalized,â Joyal said of the number of employees joining Nuance. âI know there were 20 who had worked at Excela ... and all 20 were offered positions at Nuance.â

Nuance is based in Burlington, Mass., but has offices around the world, Joyal said.

Former Excela transcriptionists will work for Nuance, but Excela will be their primary responsibility, Jennings said.

The medical transcriptionists work from remote sites, such as their homes, which they did as Excela employees, Jennings said. A few opted to work at one of Excela's facilities.

Excela workers making the change were offered $500 to buy new computers compatible with Nuance technology, Jennings said.

Nuance What's The Good News?
Apr 12, 2013

I really appreciate all the replies, good and bad.  I guess the good new is we the displaced have time on our sides in that we have 58 days to make a decision about our future employment, I believe the union did get us that.  I'm definitely going to look at other companies, possibly independent contractor positions.  There are some leaving who have kids/families they are supporting, I am 59, only support myself so I have that at least.  Appreciate MTStars board. ...

Nuance - What's The Good News?
Apr 11, 2013

We got the news yesterday, offered jobs at Nuance doing our same doctors.  I understand we have to clock in, and will now have to pay for insurance, internet not reimbursed, less pay, very large company.  We work on Escription with small amount of straight typing. They say will transfer our seniority, etc.  I have read on this board in the past that thngs may start out well but don't neccesarrily stay that way, things go downhill.  I would love hear from someone who works there and like ...

Nuance Stock News...interesting
Apr 25, 2013

Interesting article from WSJ about possible news of Nuance selling off parts of its holdings: (it is all conjecture at this point, but interesting that Goldman is often called in to make major changes, and sometimes it involves sale of parts or all of the company)   Nuance Communications Inc. NUAN +4.13%, the speech-recognition software maker in which investor Carl Icahn recently took a stake, is seeking advice from Goldman Sachs Group Inc. GS  ...

Big ASR News
Jan 27, 2010

I opened a ticket yesterday for ASR, asking them to have H and H expand out to hemoglobin and hematocrit for my account, and less than 24 hours I got a message saying it was done! Unbelievable.    Seems crazy we would all have to do this, but if we all do this, maybe some positive change could actually come.    I gave them the account, an internal job number, and my contact number and just stated what the problem was.  My understanding is this was corrected for this ...

WHEN Will We Get News About Changes At Webmedx?
Jul 05, 2011

This whole thing makes absolutely zero sense to me. Webmedx has 500+ employees, right? What management is going to make an announcement regarding a publicly traded company and then tell employees not to talk? I would think announcing changes like that would put them at risk of actually influencing the stock. And they have to know it's ridiculous to think that many people are going to keep the announcement confidential. To me, it seems extremely irresponsible of Webmedx any way I look at it ...

Possible Good News
Mar 19, 2014

I interviewed for a job at a local, major hospital.  It was interesting to learn that the HIM department is in the process of bringing transcription back in house, at least partially.  It was claimed that their transcription company was not doing a satisfactory job.  This might be good news my MT friends.  Maybe this will be a trend?   I'm certainly hoping so and I mentioned how excited I was about the possibility of in-house transcription jobs being available in th ...
