I've got news for everyone - old and burned out

Posted: Jul 10, 2011

Most of the companies are paying 8 cpl for transcription and 4 cpl for editing.  MQ is not going to stop until they reach that rate even though they may do it gradually as they have been doing.

They won't stop there either - sm

They will now tell us this is the going rate in the industry which it unfortunately is. The next pay cut will be when they only pay us for VBC. I wonder if the ex-Spheris employees are getting a decrease also. I'm sure some of them were making decent money.

what is VBC? - dumbdumb

I think full pay for canned text will be coming to an end soon as well.

Ex-Spheris employees - upset

Are getting pay cuts too. I was not happy to open my email this morning. It is already getting hard to make decent money and they keep making it harder.

I'm not a former Spheris MT, but how long ago was tke takeover? It seems like they waited until you had time to settle in before dropping this most recent bomb.
Oddly enough - Upset

The takeover was mostly final in May/June of last year. Kind of them to wait! I have been waiting to jump ship. Didn't think things would go from bad to worse!

Pay cut e-mail - BH

I am an ex-Spheris employee and I haven't gotten this e-mail yet and today is Sunday.

ex spheris employee - foot out the door

I worked for Spheris and was "sold out" to MQ. Came over making 0.045 CPL for SR and about 0.072 for transcription. I was frustrated even at that rate because NEVER a REAL raise, but was doing okay, also had a small production bonus and Internet reimbursement. Now that is all gone, and my pay was already cut last August along with the bonus and Internet pay. So yes, I got the same Email you all did. Though one of my friends who I was at Spheris with has not, but she is on another platform- DocQscribe or whatever they call it.

I know the pay cut is a horrible thing. I've endured it myself when changing platforms, changing counting methods, etc.

However, I do have to say that it does seem fair to bring everyone into some kind of sync. Why should someone who was fortunate enough to work at a very well paid company for five years come into MQ and make more than someone who has been there for 10+ years while doing the same work? Even for MQ's own employees...why should someone who has been here 15 years make that much more than someone who has been here 12 years? And in some cases people in lower tiers were making more than people in higher ones just based a previous pay rate or having been hired by MQ during the hay days.

And, realistically, if you didn't see this coming back when your company was originally bought, you haven't been reading this board (or even the company board) very long, because this eventuality was predicted all along.

The theme of your post is that this is a more fair way of doing things. This does not give anyone an increase, it only decreases the pay of many of us who have given many years to this company. This is fair? To who? Why should an MT who just signed on with this company make as much as someone like myself who has been here for 15 years? I have not had a raise since this place bought out the company I loved working for many years ago. I was always told I was at the top of the pay scale. Now the "top" is even lower. Why should we have seen this coming? Did MQ warn us and I missed it? If you were not being fairly compensated and were not being compensated according to your tier level, that's your fault. The rest of us shouldn't have to take a paycut to "bring everyone into some kind of sync."

The ones making more still weren't making enough! - And the MQ ones were really getting gypped.

We know where this is headed. It won't stop until there isn't an MT left in America that'll work for them. THEN, they'll just pat themselves on the back for having STARVED EVERY AMERICAN MT OUT, and not had to pay a dime of unemployment. And of course, they'll probably just get an even larger monetary perk from our country's assinine government for making sure that Third World countries get all of our livelihoods. Maybe for every American who ends up unemployed because of this travesty, it should be required that the Indian who got our job should be required to pay our rent/mortgage payments, and our healthcare costs.

Big ASR News
Jan 27, 2010

I opened a ticket yesterday for ASR, asking them to have H and H expand out to hemoglobin and hematocrit for my account, and less than 24 hours I got a message saying it was done! Unbelievable.    Seems crazy we would all have to do this, but if we all do this, maybe some positive change could actually come.    I gave them the account, an internal job number, and my contact number and just stated what the problem was.  My understanding is this was corrected for this ...

WHEN Will We Get News About Changes At Webmedx?
Jul 05, 2011

This whole thing makes absolutely zero sense to me. Webmedx has 500+ employees, right? What management is going to make an announcement regarding a publicly traded company and then tell employees not to talk? I would think announcing changes like that would put them at risk of actually influencing the stock. And they have to know it's ridiculous to think that many people are going to keep the announcement confidential. To me, it seems extremely irresponsible of Webmedx any way I look at it ...

Possible Good News
Mar 19, 2014

I interviewed for a job at a local, major hospital.  It was interesting to learn that the HIM department is in the process of bringing transcription back in house, at least partially.  It was claimed that their transcription company was not doing a satisfactory job.  This might be good news my MT friends.  Maybe this will be a trend?   I'm certainly hoping so and I mentioned how excited I was about the possibility of in-house transcription jobs being available in th ...

EXCITING NEWS!!!

Any Good News For The Future Of MT?
Dec 07, 2009

I've been following the MT boards and what I mostly read are MTs complaining about losing jobs, lower pay scales, outsourcing, offshoring, voice recognition, electronic records, and other technology enhancements that seem to be putting MTs out of work.  Is there any future for the MT profession?  Is there any good news or is this profession going the way of the buggy whip?  I would certainly like to read some good news about the future prospects of MT. Trade Act News About Medquist
Dec 24, 2009

I spoke to a representative of the Trade Act in person today to ask some questions.  I learned this and want to share it to help empower those who feel hopeless this season: -All states are participating in the Trade Act.  -There was an old version of the Trade Act which necessitated that you be laid off by your company to benefit with the Trade Act.  The new version (ending with #7, not #6) starting in February 2009 allows those still working to enroll in the program. -Medquis ...
