My true thank you to the MTSOs who acknowledge - employees this time of year. (sm)

Posted: Dec 20, 2010

It is truly appreciated by those in receipt.  Even if I am not one of them, I still want to thank the companies and managers who really do express gratitude in one form or another for a job well done.

Whether you are an MT or an MTSO:  Gratitude goes a long way.

Grateful MT

And individual thank-you's (heaven forbid) occasionally - would be very appreciated. nm

I'd thank someone - If anyone would hire me.

Been looking for work for months. Now it's the holidays and I have no money, no gifts, no tree. Family is far away, no money to travel. Will be spending Christmas as just another day because no one hired me. So there's no one to thank for anything. Would of like to thank someone for even a card. Guess I don't have to now.

Thanks for nothing.

Oracle is hiring if you dare take the chance with them. - nm

mq is hiring too . Both are back biters. NM - me innw

Good luck!

That is impossible without an Org Chart - Try it sometime.

I've tried many years to thank my company individually, have no idea who to send it to. Have sent it to supervisor, but have feeling it goes no further.

It isn't as if we don't WANT to send personal thanks for crying out loud.

I just feel a lot different from many. Wherever I've worked, - Pragmatist

[ In Reply To ..]
like most, thank yous come in e-mails, etc., all through the year, a handful personal, others the usual group things. Dictators close with rote thanks. A card at Christmas, sometimes more.

That's fine with me as far as thank-yous go. (Sure, money's nice when it happens, but that's because it's...money, not a thank-you.)

The thing is, if I don't feel precious, I also don't feel neglected or specifically unappreciated.

WHY should employers need to always be stroking employees, trying to generate long-distance fuzzies? As grownups, isn't generating our own feeling of self worth through our own actions our job?

I totally agree. I am so appreciate to my - company and bosses

[ In Reply To ..]
who provide me with work and a paycheck. That is all the thanks I need. Wonder if anyone ever sends their company or manager a Christmas card or gift?

I did... - Cause I love my boss

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't worry about getting thank-you's either.

But I like to show my appreciation for having a boss that will adjust my schedule if needed, or call to say my favorite account has work on it.

I think people today believe they are owed something, but I am old school... I work hard and am thankful for what I earned myself.

It harkens back to a different time/era - sm

Back in the good old days, companies wanted to inspire employee loyalty and retention and fostered that with the feel-good stuff. While we were never irreplaceable, we have never been more expendable, so there is absolutely no need for a corporation to foster the warm-fuzzies as they could care less if an employee stays or goes- there are thousands of others more than happy to step into any opening.

Very well stated. I agree. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't need the warm-fuzzies either to know that I am a valuable employee. That being said, however, corporate and employee attitudes have changed so much over the years. I'm not sure why...what came first, the chicken or the egg kind of thing. But even though I know quite a few employees like myself who are hard workers, professional, and loyal, it is hard to find loyalty in an employer nowadays. We are used much the same way they would use a computer or any other type of machinery. There is no humanity in the corporate world, and I don't mean just MT. The ONLY thing that matters is the bottom dollar, and I'm not alone in that assessment. It has been said on a lot of the news talk shows regarding million-dollar bonuses for CEOs and such.

Remember when it was said that business is a "dog-eat-dog" atmosphere? Those were the days when it was cut-throat to competing companies. Now it's cut-throat with anything that has to do with saving the company money, including the treatment of employees. So much has changed in the last 15 years.
What happened was a watershed change in - employment turnover times.
[ In Reply To ..]
With changes in technology and the dynamics of our economy, everything and everybody became more mobile and subject to change. With it was lost the paternalism of employers who were expected to at least pretend they were taking good care of employees (though VERY often were not) and in turn expected a weight of gratitude for and acceptance of what was offered, along with unquestioning loyalty, that most would find outrageous today. Of course, the relative independence and responsibility for self that accrued to employees through all this is not appreciated by all.
Relative independence and responsibility for self? - ??
[ In Reply To ..]
gag.

Relative independence = translation: You have the independence to work whatever hours you want to because you'll need all 24 of them to make your quota, possibly.

Responsibility to self accrued to employees = translation: This is what we are now going to call PTO.

What you don't appreciate that? Why, you selfish little employee.

ACKNOWLEDGE RESUME SUBMISSIONS
Oct 26, 2010

Does anyone ever get an acknowldegment when they send a resume for a job posting?  I have yet to receive one.  I am talking about the companies, of course, who do not ask me to test or have no interest in me as a potential employee.  The ones who do, contact me and I test and interview and blah blah blah.  I have always thought it was common business practice and just plain courteous to send a letter, heck, make it a form letter, I don't care saying, sorry we are not int ...

Can This Be True?
Nov 11, 2010

I think full-time MT/ME's with benefits are required to do 150 lines per hour or 1200 for an 8-hour shift, right?  Full-time without benefits and part-time need 100 lines per hour. If the poster below is correct about newbies getting 4-cents per line ASR (no mention of how much for transcription), that means full-time with benefits will get $6 per hour = $48 per day = $240 per week = $12,480 per year, NOT including fed and state taxes, Medi ...

Is This True PTO
Mar 31, 2012

Ok I've been here like 3 months. Got my new manager's rules like 2 days ago. It said if you are scheduled to work holiday, you will (well obviously) but it also said you can request it off and will NOT be told yes or no until 3 days prior to the day. Three days? I mean I wasn't planning on taking major holidays off for a year since I'm new, but I can't plan my life around 3 days notice for Christmas and Easter. Second during a meeting she told people that all the ...

It's All True...
Jan 18, 2013

Everything that's been posted on here about the Softscript recruiter is absolutely true.  I accepted a job with them, then thought it over because of the lack of PTO, and wrote in to tell the person handling my paperwork that I had reconsidered due to the lack of PTO.  My email was forwarded back to the recruiter and she sent me a snarky email that said basically, you get 3.5 days the first year and 5 the second, and said, "please explain."  I told her that I had reconsidered ...

that MQ sent out that stupid letter stating not to worry, we will still need MTs, and that off-shoring will remain one of many solutions (including VR).  I really have no idea whether we will still be here after the first of the year or not (although that's what a lot of people on this board thought LAST year and it didn't happen....but WHY would they waste their precious money sending that letter to everyone if they planned on nixing us all soon?  Doesn't make sense.&nb ...

TWO job offers today. One is for my old hospital. I never thought it would happen again. I tried for 3 years to get my old hospital job back but never heard a peep. Thanks to still networking with my old cohorts, I got a call today. I might be a FT EMPLOYEE this time, not I.C. I had the choice of I.C., PT, or FT. I chose FT because of the insurance, but left it up to the HIM director "whatever she needed".   HaHa! Was so excited, I forgot to ask the pay rate. I hope I sounded cool as a cuc ...

Are There Any True IC Positions?
Jul 22, 2013

I am looking for a true IC position where I can work when I am available due to being handicapped. I sometimes have some very bad days and can't get out of bed as a result of it and I keep losing jobs. I am also wondering if there are any companies that pay MTs what they're worth on VR. I feel like we do twice the work for less pay. It's a lot harder if you ask me, especially if you have an account full of doc's who suck at dictation and sound more like auctioneers than a do ...

Unbelievable But True

So Mmodal decided to eliminate my position and I was without work for quite some time.  I took my 401K distribution to survive on.  Just figured out my taxes and low and behold I owe what my 401 K distribution was.  This country needs to get with it.  My family would not have survived without that 401K distribution to live on, yet the government feels that I am overpaid or something.  So sad.  I am so disgusted.  I put my heart in my job, lost it, and did what ...
