Futurenet, thinking about applying, need average line count 8 hours - need to know

Posted: Mar 26, 2015

Could some of you give me a general idea of what your daily line count is per 8 hour day on their SR program.  I am a single mom with 2 kids at home and need to know if I can make enough money with their SR program to pay my house payment, food, etc.

I used to work for them and with the new SR platform and the way they control/spread the work around and keep it very caught up, I'm not certain I would make them my one and only. The new SR platform really slows things down for the transcriptionist. It's very clunky, but is doable. They might not be bad to run in tandem with another company though. My 2 cents. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Their platform is the worst I've come across in 20+ years in this business. It wouldn't be bad for straight typing but with SR, it's very, very difficult to get around in a document to edit it. Plus, their speech engine is somewhat slow to learn. After changing "cc" to "mL" at least 1,000 times I've given up waiting for it to "learn." Not to mention on op reports it makes a separate heading whenever the word "fluid" or "anesthetic" or "antibiotic" etc., is dictated in the body of a report. Which of course needs to be edited out. The person who said the company is good for a second job is correct; don't count on it for your main moneymaker.

There is very limited work on the one EHR platform which functions reasonably well, although with the pay per line being half as for traditional transcription, my income dropped by a lot.

The platform that works like M-Modal is totally not going to pay your bills. Neither of these platforms have ever improved. The same repeated errors need to be corrected day after day. There is a LOT of editing and it is very time consuming. My personal income dropped to between 25 to 50% on these platforms. Yes, I moved on to a job outside of transcription and VR.

Of note, this company currently has minimal transcription work and it is doubtful that you will be offered any traditional transcription work.

There is a lot of demographics to deal with on many accounts. You do not get paid for this work on most accounts. However, the company will impose what they call penalties for errors, especially in the demographics (that you are not being paid for in the first place) and by penalties, they mean you will not be paid for the entire report. It has been suggested by some people within the industry that this penalty is illegal. The threatening e-mails about such penalties are frequent.

IMHO, a person needs another source of income and should never rely completely on this MTSO to survive.

Although this company requires a set schedule based on their needs, you will need to work more than those hours to obtain an income of any sort. There are many times during the day that there will be no work on many accounts. The workload is very sporadic. You may or may not be offered backup accounts. Even with multiple accounts, you may not have work at your assigned work schedule.

As others have noted many times, the VR rate is low enough and this company's particular platforms have never improved enough to create a situation where a person can earn nearly as good of an income as one did when we were transcriptionists.

Not knowing what your actual expenses are, I cannot tell you if this company can pay your bills for you. I can tell you that my income plummeted on the M-Modal platform. I am barely paying bills and I do NOT have a mortgage or rent.

I also do not know of any other companies that are much better. They have all dropped the rate per line and I have yet to find a productive SR platform.

Best wishes to you.

What Is AVERAGE Line Count Per Hour For An MT To Type
Aug 17, 2013

Just wondering, what is an Average line count per hour for an MT?  I worked in a pathology office for almost 5 years, but we never kept count of lines per hour.  When we pulled an audit once, we were only typing about 700-800 a day between myself and the lady I worked with.  I had to pull all the slides for the doctor, help with grossing, assist in frozen sections, etc.  I was hired for a job where they want me to type 135 lines per hour, that's ...

Been Typing For 2 Hours, No Line Count Yet.
Oct 31, 2010

Go figure.  Cannot get any line count for today.  Also, to get into DocQmanage, it has a window that pops up and asking to get into your sites.  I wonder if it has anything to do with the email about the ethic reporting by third party?  Medquist stated they have installed a new phone "AND" and Internet-based reporting system, which will be managed by EthicsPoint, a third-party provider of ethics-based reporting programs.  I bet the company is trying to see what sites y ...

I was just hired on with a company to do strictly VR. I am only going to be working part time so about 4 hours a day.
