Feeling Very Discouraged - caninemom3

Good morning, everyone. I know a few of you followed the last couple times I posted about how I had gotten a new job with a reputable company and they would not let me off full QA and how I was getting only three reports a day. I then posted the news was better on Friday because I was let off QA and given two more accounts. This morning I am feeling pretty low. I now have a total of four accounts and no work in any of them. I was hired as an IC and told I would have steady work and that I could log on any time I want and work as long as I met the line count I had promised. Every day so far I have had to e-mail the owner and she is always very nice and gives me a new account to add to my previous ones. I get updates on what is in the system and I do not understand why when there is such a large amount of work I am not being given the chance to participate. There is an ER account that is ALWAYS back logged but they will not put me on it. I know they have to do what is best and that I do not see the whole picture. This is just not working the way I was hoping. I know many of us have feel and do feel this way. Someone mentioned on the board here about M-Modal and how I might consider them. I know opinions can vary but could someone tell me a few things ? Are you and employee with them or an IC ?? Do they watch your every move ?? Are weekends and holidays mandatory ?? What are their shifts like ?? I am not ready yet to give up on my new company but if things are like this now, what will they be like during Thanksgiving and Christmas ?? Again, I appreciate you allowing me to vent here. It seems I have jumped from the frying pan right into the fire. I still would not go back to my old company. Yes there was always work and I made more money but there was no compassion if things came up. They would not even let me off when I had to put one of my dogs down. That ER acct that's always backlogged could be reserved for specific MTs, maybe lower/higher tiered MTs, maybe MTs who only work on ERs, or it could simply be the client wants only certain MTs typing their reports.

Though I know it's hard, try not to let it get you down. You're off QA. That's great! Keep asking for more work. That shows initiative.

Maybe the accounts you have do not have work at that time of the day. You may want to ask what time the work comes in on the accounts.

I left my position of 5 years with a well known company in May because I thought I could do better. I hate IC. I like employee status better. I am also trying to get in with M-Modal. I am on my third MT job since May. I feel discouraged also, but to better yourself sometimes you have to take the chances to get where you want to go. Keep your chin up and keep trying.

Sorry for the loss of your dog. I've been down that road, and it hurts a lot to lose a family member. What heartless people you were dealing with at your previous company. It is not the way of the world...it is just the way of some very nasty folks. Best of luck to you.

Wondering if it is the same company I just accepted a position with? My second day and no jobs available..yippy. This is exactly why I took a second job to begin with. My first job rarely has work available anymore. I'm extremely discouraged as well.

I'm trying to find secondary work as well because my primary company I have worked with forever is losing work right and left. Mostly because large hospitals are outsourcing the work from the clinics they gobble up to big sweatshops that outsource to India. Until the laws that were put in place around 2005-2006 that gave tax breaks to companies for setting up shop offshore get revised, repealed, or rewritten, this is going to continue to happen.

FutureNet is a transcription company and a platform. The transcription company is actually subcontracting to other MTSOs at sweatshop rates as all they really want to do is sell lines on their technology. Beware MTs who need work!

I've suspected this for some time. The work load can appear to be X amount and then just drop off in a hurry based on their e-mail updates. Or there is no work, then they are begging for help on specific accounts, and then just that quickly there is no work. The most notable thing is that there is a lack of work on the weekends and Monday. It just clears out totally on many accounts, including large accounts that are medical records, not clinics.

I work on multiple accounts and still have an issue with lack of work on my shift. This creates a situation where one needs to work what seems like all the time in order to make a paycheck.

This is a common issue with many MTSOs. They share accounts, they only do overflow accounts, or they send work to other services. It's all about TAT and nothing at all about making sure that their MTs and editors have work available.

I work for MModal. I like it. I have plenty of work and I am on a great team. No one bothers me. My CCM leaves me alone and the Quality coach only sends out reminder emails or emails when there are changes to account specs. Other than that, I am left alone to do my work.

No QA problems. QA at MModal is MMEs and they are only allowed to give you feedback and fill in blanks, not grade your work. We are in constant overtime on my team, never run out of work.

They do have what they call the Boost initiative which is suppose to help improve productivity and inactive time so we get an email once a week telling us what our average line count is for VR and what our inactive time is. Most have learned to get their inactive time down by simply slowing down the speed of dictation and clicking on play so that the sound file still plays when they need to get up or step away for a minute.

You are not penalized for it though, as when it first started my inactive time was 30% and they would like it to be 15%. As far as being watched, I dont feel that way and I have read a lot of complaints about people not hearing from their CCMs and such.

But it personally does not bother me, I like to do my work and be left alone so the less I hear from her the better. I know who to get her attention when I really need something. If I need a day off or a few, I enter it in teamwork way in advance and send her an email and a couple follow up emails if necessary, usually by the time I go in and check teamwork again she has approved it. Everyone's experience is different, but I encourage you to give it a shot.

No 3 to 5 reports a day while on QA you work whatever your schedule is and all your work will be routed to MMEs until your QC coach does an audit and releases you. After that, your on your own and if you land on my team you will be left alone to work and there will be plenty of it.

I sent you a message to your email. I have a feeling I know the company because I have been dealing with the same exact issues (not the limit of 3 per day, but the rest of it) since March. It completely boggles my mind when companies send out emails with long lists of heavy/late accounts and I have to beg for work.

Just quit this company. Initially had to fax my personal information numerous times because they lost it repeatedly, etc. Only allowed to type 10 reports per day on QA, unable to get off QA, QA editors never able to agree on policies and procedures.
