Does anybody else feel like they are used up and spit out by their employer? Seems to me that many companies only worry about their administrative staff's quality of life and throw all of us MTs to the wolves when it comes to benefits and wages!

it's an economic trauma, not a physical trauma (well, except to your hearing and your eyesight, but what are those things? Just physiologic details, don't sweat the small stuff, right? It's only your hearing, only your eyesight, only the language part of your brain...)

It's like, your job is supposed to keep the wolf from the door...but then it turns out, your job IS the wolf at the door!!!! That is psychological torture right there.

Call it PMTSD - Post-Medical Transcription Stress Disorder.

Then there's also PMTDD - Pre-Medical Transcription Depression Disorder (the way you feel every morning/night before you know you have to sit down to work).

as an April Fool's joke, we should submit our new disorders to the DSM-IV folks, to see if we could get it included - also send it to various psych researchers, like it's a legitimate study we are doing...hilarious...

I've got it so bad, that I dream I'm typing a report and if I arouse, I think I have to go back to sleep quickly so I can finish report, then realize I'm in bed!!! I even woke up one night sitting straight up in bed with my fingers moving as if I were typing. Need to get out of this racket so I can have better dreams!!

I have PTMTSD this week after I was a so-called "new hire" and was terminated after five days of trying to do my best for a company that kicked me out and I'm back to unemployed status again. I don't know that I really want to apply to any of these crummy MTSOs anymore. They have no appreciation for those of us to really try to work for them.

I really shouldn't complain because I have it pretty good at my job. But I had to work Christmas Day and now I'm stuck working Easter Sunday, 13 hours, which is also my birthday this year. I'm just tired of working holidays and weekends and I'm soooo ready to get my schooling behind me so I can get a normal 9-5'er.

I used to love my job, now it's an effort every day to sit down at the computer and listen to these dictators. I never thought I'd say this but I'm just about ready to get out.

So much for my MT "career," and all the years I have dedicated to it. It's definitely time for a change for me and the sooner the better. :(

It could be so much worse. Believe me, I came into this industry from a different one 7 years ago and this type of stress thatwe as MTs face hardly compares. I am ready to leave the MT industry, too, just not sure what to do. I want to leave because of the money. But, I promised myself long ago to never work as a secretary. That is why I went to college.

I think the scribes made more money when they wrote on parchment paper or whatever it was called.

I can relate to you too. I really want a change but what do I change to? There are no jobs here where I live due to the very poor economy. Right now I can't get a MT job online either.

Nice to know I have fellow MTs who feel like I do. It's tough when you work for years for a company and never get any recognition for the things you do time and time again over and above the call of duty. It's really sad to know that all they really care about are $$$$ in their pockets and not rewarding those of us who practically live, sleep, and breathe working for them. :(

My boss keeps telling us corporate says we are not producing enough for the number of employees we have, but we have been producing. Every other week, she will call and say increase production. Took a test for a city job and just got notice that I did not pass. I was on of over 300 people who took the test. Happy for those that passed but wish I would have been one of them. Hi, All. Just quit this company. Initially had to fax my personal information numerous times because they lost it repeatedly, etc. Only allowed to type 10 reports per day on QA, unable to get off QA, QA editors never able to agree on policies and procedures. I have been a transcriptionist for the past 10 years, working in cardiology, acute care and now radiology. I do radiology part-time from home right now and most shifts I do not even average minimum wage because of a shortage of work.
