Discouraged...are there legit good companies out there - Nuance newbie

I'm certainly getting discouraged by reading more and more on this board. I used to work for MModal when it was Medquist and they seem just as bad on here. TTS has bad reviews. Seriously other than working at an office, which simply isn't feasible for me, are there any reputable, legit companies out there? I went to the job seeker's board, but it seems it's all FT, or Nuance/TTS/MModal.

Glad I kept my other job, but I had wanted a little extra income. Now, I'm not so sure that this Nuance thing is going to work out.

BTW, they're still ignoring the labor rules pdf email, but sending me FIESA stuff.

Any company board is going to have highs and lows. But where are the positives here? I had really never even been on this board until the Nuance takeover. I truly believe the overwhelming message you are seeing is based on the truth, that there is something wrong with Nuance. Everyone is different in what they are looking for and need in a job and what you're willing to sacrifice to stay at home.
That being said, I do believe there are good companies. I've worked for a few of them, but they either went out of business because of the bigger companies, or they were acquired, and they weren't good jobs anymore.

Try checking your local area about offices who might be interested in your services directly. At least you could trust the boss!

...have driven down prices to where the really good mid-sized MTSOs just cannot compete anymore. The bigs offer 1) a buyout, 2) new fancy software to the accounts they acqiured during this buyout, and gooooodbye MTs!

Go to your local employment agency and find yourself a new career. They even have some work at home suggestions. There are training programs for people who are underemployed due to off-shoring!

and no less than FOUR times the company she went to work for was bought by Nuance! Like a nightmare hamster wheel.

because she didn't like the pay cut, which was only minor at that time. Now, mind you, she does have about 18 years more experience than I do, and I have 19 years. I stayed and endured. Now, 4 years later, after she has been through about 7 different MT jobs, I actually make more than she does and she has NO benefits, no paid days off, no insurance, no holiday pittance pay, no holidays off. She does not like to compare jobs anymore, only vent.

Sometimes its better to roll with the punches until your lights are finally punched out.

I have been working for an excellent company for seven years. Unfortunately, they were put out of business by a bunch of poachers from one of the national MTSOs. We were well paid and treated like gold.
