Amphion or TTS - affiliated with Nuance? - nn

Both these are hiring for less than 40 hours a week. See pros and cons for both.

I had seen where TTS uses Nuance's QA? Nuance grid system is just what I want to get away from.

Comparison of the 2 companies appreciated.

Considered SoftScript, but see there is no way in *^*&^ to get any day shift hours even with splitting part 1st shift and part 2nd or 3rd.

Yes they are affiliated with Nuance (TTS) Left there a while ago...no pay...work like dogs....no work lots of time.

TTS does some Nuance overflow work. May sometimes be Nuance QA but not always. TTS has their own pay system, and as you are their employee, you don't get paid according to the Nuance Grid. I rarely ran out of work and averaged around $10-$11/hour. The Escription drafts on my accounts were excellent and easy to get more than the required lines. Different experience.

I worked for TTS and really liked the company and the people I had contact with. They do subcontract from Big N, I don't know anything about using the Big N QA. They had their own QA when I was there (left March 2015) and it wasn't bad. Definitely their own way of figuring pay.

I can see how you can make some money with TTS but you have to get the good accounts. My average with them was about 10-12 an hour. TTS does use Nuance for QA (from India) and a little of their own. But TTS has their own grading system, and not as fierce as Nuance. Again, TTS is not a bad company. Their pay may seem a little lower per line, but they do include spaces and headers and footers, so that basically equals out to what other companies are paying. I had a friend who worked for Nuance (before the degrading new pay system) and we both made about the same. I would have to do 2000 lines a day to equal her 1600 lines a day to make the same, but as I said their pay per line is computed differently. I left because of lack of work on my accounts.

I found a little MT job for a nice young lady who still runs her own business and has her own accounts. It is straight typing and 8 cents a line. It is only for two docs with one specialty. No QA really, although I am sure she looks over my work. So much less stress than the big companies. I actually like transcribing again.

Try to find these little companies. Apparently, they still do exist, albeit as an IC.

don't pay for spaces? Just wondering as I've never worked for a place that doesn't pay for spaces. I just can't wrap my head around why they don't pay for spaces and how much that influences your paycheck. Thanks for any info.

I work for Amphion and I'm generally happy with it. That said, I've seen on here before that Amphion is part of Nuance. Then in one of my emails recently I saw the name Nuance mentioned (in reference to workload). Is that true? That kinda makes me a little uneasy seeing that MM and N are the top two undesirables (that's putting it nicely). Anyone ever get fired from Amphion for not meeting line requirements? I work for them FT or more as needed and have yet to make the 12,000 line requirement. I've been with them for 6 months now and have not heard a peep about it. My QA is meeting requirements and my attendance is excellent, but I have yet to make the line count.
