Amphion, Diskriter, Nuance - MTmom6

Looking for feedback both negative and positive on these three companies. I have been hired by one and have interviews with the other two. Two of the companies are strictly VR and one is straight typing. I am looking for pros and cons on VR versus straight typing, how QA personnel are to work with, difficult dictation, and whether or not the work is steady.

Diskriter - Screwed by DR

I can tell you the good, bad and ugly of DR, but won't bore anyone with the details. The good is that the straight typing account has wonderful QA/Supervisor staff. It is a difficult account that is verbatim with a million exceptions but the staff is very helpful. The bad....This company is now Indian owned and they have on several occasions made mistakes in pay, not paid out the premiums but taken from the checks, eliminated domestic staff one by one and replaced with global users. There was more deception going on daily. It was made clear they plan to replace all of the domestic staff with their own global users.

the 3, none are good to work for. Amphion does not pay spaces. Nuance had the worst platform and Diskriter had horrible sound quality to the point I could not get even 1 report done. Sorry, but that is what happened to me:(

Ive worked for 3 companies the past 13 years. Worked at Diskriter for multiple years... in the beginning they were great, but then the need for mandatory OT weekly for 2 years straight. I had requested/approved time off on a Friday for a planned trip(after years of employment)we became NJA the thursday before, and I was asked to work the Friday I had planned off. When I informed my supv this was impossible I was told it would be marked against me... this was the final straw on the account I had served for years. I then moved over to another account, wonderful supv, but lost 2 cents a line doing so. After that all seemed to go down hill, perhaps because of the reasons stated by earlier poster.

I also worked at Amphion. The no pay for spaces will affect your paycheck more than you realize. Also, after being promised a very large acute care facility with lots of work, I was NJA within 30 days, trained on a new account, NJA within 30 days also, and that happened a couple more times before I left Amphion after being there less than a year.

I worked at Diskriter too and got the shaft. Definitely do not even bother with them. Laid off without any notice and locked out of the system a few hours later...Don't waste your time.

Worked there 5.5 years. Lost the job in August. I had already finished school for a different field and got full time job the very next day. There is life after medical transcription. I also lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I do not miss this typing crap at all after 30 years of MT. You should all go on strike and let all these rip off companies go down the drain or let all the Indian companies do it. See how the doctors like that.

I work for Amphion and I'm generally happy with it. That said, I've seen on here before that Amphion is part of Nuance. Then in one of my emails recently I saw the name Nuance mentioned (in reference to workload). Is that true? That kinda makes me a little uneasy seeing that MM and N are the top two undesirables (that's putting it nicely). Both these are hiring for less than 40 hours a week. See pros and cons for both. I had seen where TTS uses Nuance's QA? Nuance grid system is just what I want to get away from. Comparison of the 2 companies appreciated. Considered SoftScript, but see there is no way in *^*&^ to get any day shift hours even with splitting part 1st shift and part 2nd or 3rd. ...

As a long time MT at DR, I find the undoing of Diskriter to be most upsetting. Anyone else have any thoughts? People have left in great numbers and continue to leave. Stay away from Diskriter who has an ad on the Job Seeker's Board. I worked for them and it was THE worst experience of my life. It is a very big hospital they are referring to with lots and lots of facilities associated with it and lots and lots of account specifics. You need to have a certified degree as a rocket scientist to work for them. They chastise you and make you feel worthless.
