Amphion or Nuance? Lesser of 2 evils.... - anon

Posted: Apr 15, 2015

I am wondering if there are any current Amphion employees out there that can give me an idea what it is like over there? Pay, accounts, platform? I tested with them yesterday but then saw some poor reviews on another site. I currently work for Nuance and am wondering if just staying with what I know might be better, or should I try to do both part-time until something else comes along??? I am wanting to get into coding but have to bide my time until I can pay for school, which is why I applied for Amphion... they have a coding department.... but I do not want to jump from the frying pan into the fire. I know the grass is NEVER greener on the other side with transcription companies....

I've been considering the same move... - sm

The thing that bothers me about Amphion is that they pay only for VBC, which to me simply doesn't make sense. Every time I hit the space bar, it's a keystroke as far as I'm concerned and I can't imagine Amphion's reasons for not paying for that. Yeah, probably not the biggest reason not to leave Nuance, but right now it's what I know and I'm still just too set in my ways to jump ship... for now anyway.

I hope things work out for you. I know your struggle. :)

I kind of agree with you. My only issue really with Nuance (besides the obvious crappy pay) is I have struggled to have work for over a month now....constantly out. I know it is spring break time of year, etc. etc. and it seems to be a trend across all companies right now (from other posters messages) but I gotta make a living (as minimum as it is)... I was not 100% sure about Amphion not paying for spaces....that really sucks....that is a lot of keystrokes!!

If you do choose Amphion - choose Escription if you can

The other one (Triton) pays more but it is rinkydink IMHO. Lots of freezes and slow and lots of data you have to input manually.

I wonder about Amphion - when I was there even though I was only part time they had to keep adding accounts for enough work. I feel there are some old timers there that get all the good stuff, meaning not too many accounts and an opportunity to make some money, but I found the specs extremely detailed for all those accounts, and that combined with the platform freezing all the time sent me running back to Nuance (I was part time with both for awhile - I keep trying to get out of Nuance, but unfortunately as bad as they are I have yet to find a platform I like better OR make any more money - not saying I make a lot with Nuance, just that I can't make more with others - but anything to get away from FIESA). Amphion has really good QA, which was good. I learned a few things that stuck with me there.

I think as far as Nuance is concerned, the only reason I stay with them is my long time primary and the platform, which is not great but better than a lot of them. The thing with Nuance is they have a whole heap of different platforms and they also have ambulatory AND acute care, some platforms are good, others terrible, some are forced to have many many accounts, others get away with not so much.

In my experience Nuance leaves you alone, but I think some who work for Nuance don't get left alone, so it's a real crap shoot in that we all have such different experiences with them (except for the pay, that is ALWAYS bad), most of us because we have been bought and are pretty much operating under the old company, EXCEPT for the cutting in half of the pay, that is.

Good luck with your choices.

Amphion for years now. No problems on my end with Triton platform.

I don't know anything about Nuance to do a side-by-side comparison, but I can tell you that Amphion does not pay spaces or headers or footers. Almost 99% of their work (from my experience) is VR, though they tell you that going in. There is an abundance of work, depending on which team you are assigned to - in fact, extra hours/overtime are requested/required quite a lot lately. The staff is very friendly and seem committed to helping you succeed, but ultimately the decision may come down to dollars and cents for you. I know that this career field is not what it once was $$$ wise, but if that's not so important, they are a nice company to work for. Just my opinion!

I am a current employee, and there is a ton of work right now. I previously worked at a company where there wasn't enough work. The pay at Amphion isn't as good as I had before, but running out of work is never a problem, hasn't been for over a year now.

Amphion, Diskriter, Nuance

Looking for feedback both negative and positive on these three companies.  I have been hired by one and have interviews with the other two.  Two of the companies are strictly  VR and one is straight typing.  I am looking for pros and cons on VR versus straight typing, how QA personnel are to work with, difficult dictation, and whether or not the work is steady. Thank you for anything you have to offer.  ...

Is Amphion Part Of Nuance?
Sep 12, 2013

I work for Amphion and I'm generally happy with it. That said, I've seen on here before that Amphion is part of Nuance. Then in one of my emails recently I saw the name Nuance mentioned (in reference to workload). Is that true? That kinda makes me a little uneasy seeing that MM and N are the top two undesirables (that's putting it nicely). I've read through the Nuance postings and see alot of negative comments and I am wondering if some of that applies to Amphion MTs too. My ...

Both these are hiring for less than 40 hours a week.  See pros and cons for both.  I had seen where TTS uses Nuance's QA?  Nuance grid system is just what I want to get away from. Q For Amphion MTs
Sep 29, 2010

Anyone ever get fired from Amphion for not meeting line requirements? I work for them FT or more as needed and have yet to make the 12,000 line requirement. I've been with them for 6 months now and have not heard a peep about it. My QA is meeting requirements and my attendance is excellent, but I have yet to make the line count. I've switched my schedule, asked for another team, another account, work extra, racked my brain, all to no answer or just "no". I'm not sure what to do a ...
