by my medical transcription instructor in 1991. She was so right. AAMT was behind the training of MTs in India and the outsourcing that went with it once they were trained. They had to change their name to AHDI because they weren't just for the American Medical Transcriptionist anymore. Their certification was a joke from the get-go. When they started the CMT program they grandfathered in a lot of old timers who had never done more than Radiology for their entire careers. The certification is worthless. To answer the question, they have done absolutely nothing to help MTs and everything to help themselves.
