department that this company cannot pay its employees. People are in the workforce to earn a living, which includes being paid as reliably as they're expected to show up for work. This is unconscionable, especially since this owner cannot say with certainty when she can make payroll. She might be better offering some amount of severance pay and asking for volunteers to resign so that they can find an employer that can actually pay them on time. I've seen red flags before, but this is major.
