In same situation as you. Moved out to the sticks with no cable available.
Went the Satellite route but I had too much down time because of the weather.
Once these USB modems came out I tried it out. Got a Verizon USB 551L modem (broadband) and it was so much faster than satellite -- It saved my life! I just gave them my zip code and they said that it would work and definitely it did.
Just something else to look into for your situation -- been there.
