Do your research to see if there has been a petition that has been approved for TAA. This can be done at doleta.gov
If there has been a petition/determination approved, even if it has expired, write down the identifying number (or numbers as there are some with more than one) and then contact your Dept of Labor with that number. Know your dates of employment with that company. That is key to your being approved. Doesn't matter if you were laid off or quit due to lack of work. Try to find schooling for a field of work that would be a good and practical transition from MT as you will have to show this in your plan. It's really very easy. Just some mumbo jumbo government stuff. Good luck to you. They also approve for any school you want to attend, so if you want to be home I suggest looking at good online programs.
