Just as an extra tip, I switched to IC in 2015, so I will file that way this year. Fortunately I had also worked as an IC about a decade ago so had a good idea of what I needed to do tax wise but don't like to do my own numbers and filing. I usually have H&R Block do my taxes, and when I called to find out about a consultation for the changes, I was told that an hour or so of consultation during the year is included in the price from the last year's tax filing fee. If you had your taxes done by them or other tax places the year before, you might want to see if this is available to you. There are lots of tax deductions as an IC working in your home, but tax burden is higher, etc.
