Continued From Below: Those Of Us Who Have Been Here For A While
Mar 26, 2012

so to those who haven't been here long or have been with other companies, it looks like we are whiners or slammers or glass half-emptiers or whatever the phrase o' the day is. And it's not just that "oh, well, it's industry wide, so working here is in line with everyone else." No, it's because MQ/M*Moral led the way with the paycuts & bonus cuts, differential cuts, every other little trick their attorneys came up with that the other nationals and MTSOs followed ...

Continued OT
Mar 19, 2015

Eat healthy and drink plenty of water - I can't because I have "mandatory" OT that doesn't allow me enough time to cook for my family so we have to get take out and I have to eat at my desk and if I drink too much water I'll have to use the restroom which will cut into my inactive time and add to the OT.  Go to bed early and get a good nights sleep - I can't because I have "mandatory" OT so I have to work late because of NJA and still have "mandatory" OT to do each day. ...

Medquist - Just Walk Away Continued
Mar 11, 2010

Whether you are "making it" at MQ (and for the life of me I don't know how), that really isn't the issue.  MQ is treating his MTs like slaves and for a pittance.  They degrade you, monitor you, have supervisors who are tyrants, unnecessary meetings, more hoops than you can throw a stick at and guess what, they are going to send everything over to India.  There are not enough qualified MTs any longer to support these huge companies; just look at Spheris.  The higher ...

What's A Fairly Hourly Rate?
May 19, 2011

I've been out of the transcription loop for the last 2 years while I've been getting my registered nursing degree.   I did transcription for 20 years until I got tired of the nonsense.  I'm done with school, studying to take my boards, but have been offered an hourly part-time position.  Can someone tell me what hourly pay is going for now?   I was production paid for most of my transcribing years for the last few years I took an hourly employee ...

Need Advice; Fairly New At Medquist
Jun 07, 2011

Hi.  Sure glad to find a place where I can "talk" to other MTs who work where I do, different than what I am used to, as I was used to being able to email co-workers!  It gets lonely.  And I don't get much info from my supervisor.  Anyone work on the SSM Accounts?  Know what has happened to the work?  I am wondering whether I should just start working for my second job full time.  It is straight transcription, a small company, and I get no benefits but muc ...

As A Fairly New Ambulatory Employee (less Than 6 Mos)
Dec 03, 2014

I understand nothing of this.  I don't understand FIESA because I was not under it.  However, what I do understand is a cut in pay.  I'm doing well right now if make $200.00/week, mostly OOW, working a total of probably 3 days a week, and $200/week is actually on the higher side of the estimate.  So, here is my prayer for me and all you warriors.  Come Lord Jesus, come.  Deliver us out of Egypt, from this Pharaoh known as Nuance.  Such deception is a ...

Are There Any Companies That Have Good Health Insurance And Fairly Cheap? Sm
Feb 03, 2011

I go to the doctor a lot and have a lot of prescriptions, so I need a company that has good health insurance, and hopefully doesn't charge a lot for it.  I used to work at OSi and was thinking about going back there, but another poster on here said their insurance is $1000 a month for family!!!  Thanks for your help!      ...

Are There Any Good Quality Fairly Inexpensive Alternatives To ExpressScribe?
Sep 28, 2013

Was given some sample dictation to listen to and could play it on Google Chrome and it sounded very clear, but when I played it with Express Scribe (even using the special audio processes) it sounded a lot worse - more like in a tin can and a bit scratchy. For the "real" dictation, I'll have to use ExpressScribe or some other player. Thanks for the suggestions. ...

Can QA Fairly Be Called "correction"?
Sep 11, 2012

Recently a guy from the state called asking if the MTSO regularly "corrects" MT work. The answer is... what is the answer? I mean, an MT corrects their own work, to the best of their ability. If you get stumped on some bad audio or weird name or medication or medical term and Google fails, Word Help board fails, you send it to QA, and they try to fill in the final blanks. But is that really "correction"? Because the MT (if they aren't slacking and/or incompetent) knew they didn't kno ...

High VR Producers Who Do 400-700 LPH, Can You Say
Jan 24, 2010

I know some of you have taken a bashing, but I'm a believer and admire your skill.  I am curious about your definition of a line and how long you've had the same account(s).   I think most posters assume lines are defined at 65 characters including spaces, but that's not always the case (especially for those who work directly for hospitals or clinics, which many times are 60-character lines or less and include headers, footers, demos, etc.)   Can you give us an ide ...

High Grade...

High Volumes
Apr 30, 2015

I was wondering does anybody have a clue why in the world the volumes are so high.  My gosh, I can't give anymore OT than I'm already giving!  Believe me I'm happy for the OT, but was wondering if there are rumors if they let some go or are no longer hiring if people are let go or quit.  Getting worn out! ...

Expectations Too High - Am I Unrealistic?

To High Producers On M*Modal
Nov 04, 2010

I wondered if any of you who are good at M*Modal can give me some good pointers on getting faster with this program.  I have been working on it for about 6 months and don't feel I am gaining any speed on it at all.  The whole thing for me is having to reattach the cursor to the highlighter that is giving me the most trouble.  It is just awkward and such a stretch to hit that F12 key to reattach each time I have to make a correction.  I would be forever grateful!! :) &nb ...

Regarding What Constitutes High Production -sm
Jan 19, 2011

Thanks all for your thoughts on the "salary/wage expectations" thread below.  I am still hoping to see more opinions on the subject, but there were some references to production and even "high producers," hence my query concerning what you all think constitues a "high producer" versus average.  I am inclined to consider 200 lines per hour as a good producer but not high.  What are your thoughts - understanding, of course, that all accounts differ in difficulty.  However, wean ...

Have Not Biopsied, So I Do Not Know If He Has High S/l VAN Or VIC Levels
Feb 12, 2013

Patient has HIV and is status post acute kidney injury: He has had no evidence for cryoglobulinemia or hypocomplementemia.  It will be interesting to see what his protein has done with improvement in his HIV parameters.  As per previous notes, I have not biopsied him.  Therefore, I do not know whether he has a high s/l VAN, high s/l VIC, or whether this is diabetic related kidney disease.  However, it would not change his management at this time.   ...
