Whether you are "making it" at MQ (and for the life of me I don't know how), that really isn't the issue.  MQ is treating his MTs like slaves and for a pittance.  They degrade you, monitor you, have supervisors who are tyrants, unnecessary meetings, more hoops than you can throw a stick at and guess what, they are going to send everything over to India.  There are not enough qualified MTs any longer to support these huge companies; just look at Spheris.  The higher ups are getting the money, not the workers.  At MQ, the supervisors are required to work 7 days a week and are provided a cell phone so they can be contacted at all times.  They are also cutting your wages if you send in too many reports to the editors and you will be docked, but so many of the MTs are on 100% QA, what can they do?  They are literally paying two people (MT and editor) what they used to pay just one MT (8 cents a line).  Editors (MME) make 3 cents a line.  WOW, it must be the title that entices them, Master Medical Editor.  What a load!  Again, we all need to take a stand and fight back against this.  Leave now before they get the upper hand and have everything taken care of and sending it off to India and then dumping the MTs like yesterdays fish.  You think for one second, they will have any consideration for the workers?  They are becoming so impossible to work for now, what will it be like in 6 months.  Spheris lost so many MTs with it's ridiculous software system (Cornerstone), no wonder they went out of business.  For what it is worth, I urge you all to look elsewhere.  It took me months and believe me it wasn't easy and even though I can work out of my home, I am older and no one wants you.  I tried everything and I just took a leap of faith and went with another company.  Seek out the smaller ones, they all pay the same anyway or get out completely.  I swear I will scrub floors before I ever go through what I did with Spheris and MQ.  Nuff said, now move on ladies, you are more deserving than what these companies throw our way.

Sometimes the ranting on here is hilarious. MTs are now being asked to research and relisten to their own work and only send blanks directly to the customer that are completely unintelligable or flat out wrong (what I was trained to do 30 years ago and have always done because it is my job), and then, OMG, we are being asked to work our schedules. Holy crap! The horror, the insanity.

Grow up people. This is year 3 for me at MQ and my income has steadily gone up (not my cpl - that is still the same) because I use the tools given to me and my brains. And, I use the feedback to improve my skills, not to wail and whine here about the injustice of it all.

on here who are doing everything right, and they are still trying to screw us. Be thankful if your income has risen. I am in the category of MTs who are working harder and smarter to no avail. The work is just not there any more. It's a constant fight for work in my BOB. Primary? Forget about it. Shame on you for trying to beat us up even more. Absolutely NOTHING is consistent at MQ, and if you are not in the regions/BOBs that are experiencing the worst of the worst, then consider yourself extremely fortunate.

I question the validity of your post. I have worked harder in my 5 years at MedQuist than I ever worked in a private hospital and have watched my pay reduced by approximately $15,000 per year since my first year at MQ. I think I am working smart and using the technology provided to me also, but it is hard to make all this big money as I sit here with NJA as I speak.

GROW UP! My income has steadily decreased, although been about the same the LAST 3 YEARS!

T.M. CEO gave me my very last raise in 2000 and now she says I make too much! WHATEVER! This company also gave me disability insurance 20 years ago. I only pay 12.00 a month because that is how long I have been with them and of course it now through a private group since they like to take away just about EVERYTHING!

Anyone suffering the insult of 30-40% pay cuts for ASR work should RUN to rent or buy Michael Moore's new documentary, Capitalism - A Love Story.

I quit MQ over ASR and will quit my present job over the same issue. If you have had it outsourcing, pay cuts and other insults, GET the above documentary.

Eat healthy and drink plenty of water - I can't because I have "mandatory" OT that doesn't allow me enough time to cook for my family so we have to get take out and I have to eat at my desk and if I drink too much water I'll have to use the restroom which will cut into my inactive time and add to the OT.  Go to bed early and get a good nights sleep - I can't because I have "mandatory" OT so I have to work late because of NJA and still have "mandatory" OT to do each day. ...
