Free dictation player - frustrated

Posted: Jun 24, 2015

Does anyone know of any free dictation players?  I have purchased Express Scribe twice, but unfortunately yesterday a sudden very close flash of lightning fried both of my computers and I do not have a record of the serial numbers.  I had to buy a new computer today and I just don't have the money to buy Express Scribe again right now; credit card is maxed, checking account is empty.

I wrote to NCH and asked them for my serial numbers but the website states it may be a couple of days before they can respond to my question.  The demo version I downloaded allowed me to  transcribe one report before shutting down, and I have 40 reports left to do.

I am feeling a bit desperate at the moment and if anyone knows of a solution, I would be very grateful.

Thanks.

Uninstall and reinstall the demo - MT

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the demo. That should work to hold you over for a couple of days. I know there is a trial period for free but pretty sure more than just one. The demo doesn't last forever but crossing fingers it will get you through the next few days. Also just try calling NCH instead of waiting for an e mail. The probably can help you immediately. Good luck!

I had the same experience as my foot pedal would no longer work with ES, that is how they get you. You can listen all you want, but when you try to use the foot pedal it will shut you down and tell you to buy their foot pedal. Sickening...especially when we do not get paid for all we do and we now have to cover the cost all our own equipment which everyone is capitalizing on etc while these companies reap all the benefits...

anyway, I do know of a free player if you want to email me. I am afraid to give out much information anymore because it will just then be a matter of time before it gets extorted to line someone else's pockets but the MT.

please share the info with me i am in ditto situation

Dont count on that reinstall, they have whatever it is - in the program that tracks SM

how many times you've installed the program on that particular computer.

ExpressScribe is as bad as Nuisance and Muddle, looking to screw the customer (or MT) at every turn and claw every cent they can out of our pockets.

There is something that may help, called For The Record. I had to download it for a test a while back. It seemed to work for me. Look on Internet for it and read and see if it will do the same for you. Good luck.

Apr 18, 2011

Hi.  I've been using Express Scribe for years now and have never run into a situation where it couldn't play the files that I was working with.  Recently I got a new job and now .ds2 files are going to be used more often and I just found out that Express Scribe doesn't play those.  UGH! I don't have the kind of money to buy $100 software like Bytescribe.  Does anyone know of any other wavplayer programs that are free or very low in price? Or maybe someon ...
