Toll free call in dictation for small MTS - Helen

Posted: Jan 28, 2011

I'm interested in being able to offer my accounts toll free call in dictation as an option (currently using diigital records and encrypted email).  I'm looking for input, good or bad, from MTs who have gone this route.

Thanks,

Helen

We're also looking for a dial-in dictation system. Toll-free not a requirement, but nice.

I use Metroscript - AML

I use both digital recorders for some clients and a call-in system for others. I have used a couple in the past but Metroscript gets my vote. Very fast, easy set up. User friendly. 800 number offered without limitations on how many can use it at the same time.

Thanks for the info. I will check them out.

Scribe.com $.09/minute w/platform - mtanon

This program has full featured platform with autofax, esignature, etc. Have a free version but still have to pay for phone time. Digital file uploads are free. Have used this for my service (along with Metroscript) for quite a few years. Works extremely well. Both are good mostly because telephone keypads are easy to use for the docs.

Non-small-call Carcinoma
Dec 21, 2011

CT-guided needle boiopsy was positive for non-small-cell carcinoma "with favored squame." I'm not real sure if he is saying "with" or maybe "of" or maybe not saying anything before he says the "favored squame" part.  My guess is he's abbreviating squame for squamous but haven't been able to document this wording.  thanks.  ...

Free Dictation Player
Jun 24, 2015

Does anyone know of any free dictation players?  I have purchased Express Scribe twice, but unfortunately yesterday a sudden very close flash of lightning fried both of my computers and I do not have a record of the serial numbers.  I had to buy a new computer today and I just don't have the money to buy Express Scribe again right now; credit card is maxed, checking account is empty.  I wrote to NCH and asked them for my serial numbers but the website states it may be a ...

Call-in Dictation System
Feb 02, 2011

I have never used a call-in dictation system before, but one of the offices we transcribe for is requesting that I get a system. I have looked at several systems, Dial Dictate, DigItel, and others. I cannot understand the language and can't figure out how much it would actually cost and how it works, etc. I do not want to have to get extra phone land lines. I would like it to record into the computer. VoIP or something like that, I think. Can anyone point me anywhere where I might get an ex ...

Why Do MTSO Advertise, But Never Call Or If They Do Call, Nothing.
Feb 20, 2012

I am tired and frustrated from applying and sending out resumes only to be ignored.  It is like a game with them, I think.  MedGarde even has an interview which has absolutely nothing to do with your skills or qualifications.  In fact it seems like psychological testing to see if you are mentally competent or something like that.  I swear I feel like a mouse that is being tested and run through a maze to see how well you perform, but even mice will get the prize or food event ...

Reporting Time Pay Aka On Call Or Call-in Pay
May 08, 2015

I am considering requesting this pay which (depending on the state) considers us to be on-call and must be paid for part of our shift if no work. I have had it up to here with Nuance and running out of work, adding more and more accounts and STILL no work. Got a second job and STILL being screwed by Nuance in the sense that I cannot rely on my first job (income wise), because when there is enough work they manage to screw my cpl with their lovely FIESA, then as soon as I have no errors the work ...

Small-bowel Versus Small Bowel
Jun 08, 2015

I've always just used "small bowel," but then noticed most put "small-bowel," I assume to differentiate it as being part of the intestine as opposed to a small, or little bowel.  Okay, that makes sense, so I stated hyphenating small-bowel.  However, I just got marked off by QA for putting in a hyphen!  No matter what you do or don't do, you're screwed!  I do believe they just look for ways to antagonize so you'll never feel appreciated.  ...

Just A Small Vent

I have one of "those" dictators.  I know. . . . . who doesn't, right? This guy is a native English speaker, but he's a speedy mumbler.  I struggle with him, but work on each one of his that I get so that I can get better.  Just when I think I'm getting better with him one of his comes back from QA completely marked up.  Some are changes that could be debated, but some are just stupid mistakes that I should have caught. I'm just frustrated ...

Small Pet Peeve
Aug 16, 2010

After struggling with names like Siobhan, Ahleksi (concocted to prove a point), and Yvan, I am so happy to have a "normal name" such as what sounds like "John Carter." Whew! Finally! A no-brainer! But I start to look it up-- no such thing in the data base. Well! It just happens to be "John Carter" spelled "Gionn Kharter." This is just a not-real-life illustration. But isn't it irritating when you finally get a regular-sounding name and it's not so regular, and the d ...

Small Vent But I Just Have To Do It
Jun 15, 2011

I hate it when doctors put punctuation in their dictation.  (In this instance it was "p.m. in capital letters")  We don't tell them how to do their jobs ... why should they tell us how to do ours?  Sorry, this a vent that rears its ugly head from time to time.  ...

A Small Ray Of Hope For MTs
Sep 02, 2011

Recently, one of our local hospitals opened up 4 full time jobs to QA the work they are getting from their vendor.  It seems the doctors were complaining about the quality of their reports.  My hope is that other hospitals as well will see that you get what you pay for and that the lower rates they are demanding followed by the lower rates paid to qualified MTs working for companies like MQ results in the loss of the most qualified MTs and inferior work being produced by less qualified ...

A Small Grumble
Oct 18, 2011

I know I am putting myself on the firing squad front and center, but I just would like to make a small comment. I am of the opinion that if a person posts a question about something specific or important to them often times there are a lot of views but no replies. The common thread here I notice is if the topic revolves around negativity it gets all kinds of response. Don't get me wrong, I am in the same boat everyone else is with my career changing at warp speed, and I have been doing this ...
