Outsourcing Backlash - sarmt

Medical transcription is not the only thing being outsourced.....Lots of info to Google re Boston Hyatt Hotels replacing long time housekeeping staff with people the staff trained. It seems that everying, from the governor's office down, is outraged and want the housekeepers reinstated. Hospitality Staffing Solutions are paying the new workers $8 per hour and no benefits. The original housekeepers were making $14-20/hour with benefits and pension. I wonder if, somewhere down the line, this could happen with outsourced/offshored medical transcription/editing. Maybe MQ & other MTSOs ought to pay attention.

industries outside of MT. Over 10 years ago a local factory here laid off their janitors and outsourced their jobs and then a year later outsourced their security department and got rid of all the long-time security people (my husband was one of them). Of course, the people could go with the new company, but at less than half their wages and no benifits or pension. All the yelling in the world did no good. My son was doing janitorial work for a company 6 years ago who was contracted by the schools to do their janitorial work and, of course, the schools laid off all their long-time janitors for the cheaper labor (minimum wage with no benifits). All the protesting fell on deaf ears and they lost their jobs. They could not live on the slave wages offered by the outsource company. There is no such thing as loyalty to employees in this country anymore. You would think that prices we pay for goods and services would reflect this cheaper labor, but sadly the cost of living just keeps going up as the wages go down, it does not make sense.

Thanks for posting. Back when I had a real job (before MQ)when a real vacation was a possibility, I used to like the Hyatt. Thank God for Ramen noodles, otherwise I probably would be not be able to eat on my wages. I sent an e-mail to Hyatt regarding the matter. I hope the rest of the country will too. This crap needs to stop. We're all being sold down the river.

Can anyone tell me how closely affiliated DSG and MedQuist are, and if DSG outsources to India? We all know MQ outsources, but I'm having trouble getting information. Currently, I have a FT job w/a very large hospital, actually multiple hospitals combined. We all once worked in the office; however, they sent us all home to work. It must be cheaper for them with higher quality work, personalized service, etc. Some hospitals even hire MTs to work from home rather than use an MTSO. I've been an MT for over 20 years and am seriously considering switching my focus to coding. I believe that I would be a good fit and am excited about starting a new career in the not-too-distant future. With 12+ years in the business, 10 of which has been at home, working for at least 6 outsourcing companies..... Hi Everyone - Question, my department of about 13 MTs were just notified last week that our hospital will be out sourcing to MQ. Now MQ was there and offered all of us positions. My question is, after looking at all these posts and from our own investigating, is MQ a good company or not? Just heard our hospital is outsourcing 100% to Nuance. They are offering us our hospital pay for a while. Benefits marginal.
