DQS platform - Curious One

Posted: Nov 02, 2010

Needing a general consensus on whether or not you like the DQS platform...what about it's ASR generated reports.

I personally like the platform and think the ASR reports aren't as bad as some platforms I have been on...I just hate the rate of ASR pay.  Though it is estimated the production increases with ASR, for most, that simply is not the case and, per a study I found online, quite the opposite.  Please see results from that independent study below.

Endocrinology

Productivity with standard description was 13.34 mdt/hsw. By means of bootstrapping, it was estimated that productivity with standard transcription would exceed that with speech recognition by 1.70 (CI, 1.03, 2.23) mdt/hsw. Thus, endocrinology secretaries were 87.3% (CI, 83.3%, 92.3%) as productive using speech recognition as they were using standard transcription ([(13.34–1.7) ÷ 13.34] × 100).

Psychiatry Full-time Transcriptionists
Productivity with standard transcription was 14.05 mdt/hsw. By means of bootstrapping, it was estimated that productivity with standard transcription would exceed that of speech recognition by 5.16 (CI, 3.66, 6.46) mdt/hsw. Thus, psychiatry transcriptionists were 63.3% (CI, 54.0%, 74.0%) as productive using speech recognition as they were using standard transcription.

Psychiatry Secretaries
Productivity with standard transcription was 12.67 mdt/hsw. By means of bootstrapping, it was estimated that productivity with standard transcription would exceed that of speech recognition by 5.60 (CI, 4.05, 7.02) mdt/hsw. Thus, psychiatry secretaries were 55.8% (CI, 44.6%, 68.0%) as productive using speech recognition as they were using standard transcription.

Regarding ASR - Anon

In my opinion ASR works great for the white, male dictators. Every other type of dictator takes quite a bit of correction. Also, with this company there is no one to discuss the ASR problems on the individual dictators. For instance a dictator I have ALWAYS says the word "equal" in part of his PE, but ASR never got that word so ALWAYS leaves it out. I am sure there are lots of newbies or disillusioned MT's that don't hear the word "equal" or choose to ignore it. I am sad every time I add the word because there is no one to tell -- you don't dare make waves for fear of retribution. Sometimes ASR "hears" things I do not and in that instance it is great. Most of the time it types incorrect words and phrases and makes your job harder and all for less pay. The MT is definitely not benefiting or transcribing more lines with ASR. Everyday MQ just comes up with a way to pay us less and less. It is all terribly discouraging and very, very, very scary.

ASR does extremely poorly on American-speaking dictators, but remarkably well on ESL docs. Go figure.

I get sick and tired of having to delet the - words

[ In Reply To ..]
'next' (or more often...incorrectly) 'neck' when a doctor is dictating a list of meds or doing the past medical history or any other kind of list.

Seriously! ASR hasn't learned by now to leave out the word NEXT?!?

And for me, I have a lot of ESL docs who are on ASR, but right now I am doing a report for a very clear speaking American male doc...and it's straight typing. Go figure.

If there are a bunch, go to Edit, find and - replace and

"find" the word next and replace with with a blank. Saves some time if ther are a bajillion of them.

I don't understand how they think we can be all that productive when things are changed every week. One week you do this. The next week it is changed. One QA says do this; another says no, do this. It is like standing at a stop light, and there are 5 policemen directing traffic. Each is telling you to do something different than the others. You don't know whether to (as Dolley Pardon said in Steel Magnolia) "scratch your watch or wind your behind." I just don't understand how a company can make any money by making all of these changes.... Oh yeah, send 80% of the work to India at 3 cents a line who will put up with anything just to make their 3 cents a line. I actually go to bed almost every night thinking about this. I am sitting here shaking my head right now. Please, some one explain this to me.

DQS is far better, I love it. I have only done ASR for one other company, and it is better with MQ in my experience. I think it depends on the accounts you are on because in another service area I was in the ASR was horrible no matter what kind of dictator, and in the service area/accounts I am on now ASR is not too bad. I manage to do just enough lines to compensate for the lower pay and have not seen my pay fall because of ASR (it has not increased though).

Which Is The Best Platform For EMR For IC/MTs?
Aug 29, 2012

In your experience, which platform would you recommend an IC/MT suggest a physician's office utilize? This would be probably for four docs per office or less and one to four MTs. I am hoping to "sell" some local private doctor offices with this form of EMR so it may save my current small job and also allow me to obtain more work. Also, I would appreciate any suggestions on how to "sell" this idea to them. Thank you for any help you may be able to share with me. ...

IntraScript 8.2e Platform
Oct 12, 2010

Does anyone use IntraScript platform?  My last MTSO used this platform and I loved it because I could actually o  open MS Word and type in it then copy and paste it into IntraScript.  The reason I did this was because I have wireless internet and if it went down for a second I would lose my report if it was typed in IntraScript.  I have seen a couiple of MTSOs that use IntraScript but they use the 8.2e version.  I was actually able to download IntraScript from one M ...
