Poll: Spelling Pet Peeves - I will go first (sm)

Posted: Sep 24, 2010

These drive me nuts when I see them!

"I could care less" ... WRONG!  It is "I could not/couldn't care less" --  In other words, there is no more "caring" left!  LOL

Rediculous ... WRONG!   It is "ridiculous."

Pleural when "plural" is needed!

You're vs your.   You're stands for "you are"!  Your is a possessive!

Ok.  Your turn!

ok - now me

I cannot loose this job.

I'm looking for advise on whether I should apply.

Their goes my paycheck.

I hate when apostrophes are placed before each and every "s", as in "pancake's will be served" or "All computer's on sale!"

My biggest peeve... ALOT - It is 2 words people!

[ In Reply To ..]
or, conversating!!! That one just really makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

Me and my friend were conversating, and UGGGGGHHHHHHH I want to stab myself in the eye!!!

Your/You're. Loose/lose. Its/It's. nm - My top 3

The wound is oozing puss!!!!! Where is that cat coming from the wound!!! Puss instead of pus-- my bigest also the baby is in breach position. Did the baby breach a contract in the womb!!!! breach instead of breech!!!!

I have put puss before in office - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I just to work in a doctor's office. I had someone say they had pus under their toe. I accidentally put puss on their encounter form. The doctor walked out of the patient's room in the middle of the office visit and asked me how the puss got up under the patient's toe. A very embarrassing moment in front of coworkers and patient's since I was in the front office. Needless to say, I pretty good now at remembering how to spell pus!

Sooo many! Weather/whether and sort/sought really grate though - s/m

[ In Reply To ..]
I see so many real estate ads for houses in a "sort after location". Drives me insane!

BRANG!!! - no1joe

[ In Reply To ..]
My ex-husband would say, for example, "I brang my lunch to work today." I didn't even realize he did it until well into our relationship. Who's the bigger moron... him or me for marrying him??!?

Others that drive me nuts are regard/regards and spilt as in "Don't cry over spilt milk." Ugh... just typing that out makes me nuts >:|

Not a spelling peeve, though I hate it when people say - death instead of deaf or vice versa

[ In Reply To ..]
My ex-husband always used to say that his father was death when he meant deaf. And others I see on TV will say deaf for death or birfday for birthday. Drives me nuts!

My FIL cracks me up though when he says Mitsubishi. It always comes out Mitsubitchie.

How about "breaf" for breath......argh like nails on a chalkboard....n/m - Kiki1

[ In Reply To ..]
x

Or Wal-Marks or Wal-Marts instead of Wal-Mart! LOL - Wearing overhauls instead of overalls. LOL

[ In Reply To ..]
nm

How about "I axed him to go with me". - nm

[ In Reply To ..]
nm

"Patient has got pain"... - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
The use of "got" and "gotten" drives me nuts for some reason. It just doesn't seem right to me, no matter how many times someone wants to preach participle rules to me, LOL.

Pet Peeves
May 11, 2010

Just a couple little pet peeves I have that I would like to rant about to my fellow MTs who will understand.  It drives me nuts when people dictate the word "dyspnea" as s/l dipsnea and the word "pharynx" as s/l pharnix.  I don't know why this bothers me so much, but it does, LOL.  Let me know if this drives you crazy too or any other pet peeves you have.  Have a great evening everyone :-) ...

My Job Ad Pet Peeves ...
Jun 08, 2011

1.  Job ads with typos -- you know they'll try to nail us for them but apparently they don't have to be accurate!  LOL 2.  Job ads with poor punctuation -- like no comma after the state abbreviation in a sentence. 3.  Job ads with e-mail addresses that prove there is no website.  How professional is that? 4.  Job ads with no range of pay listed whatsoever.  Come on, give us a range!  I'm not interested in applying for your 5 cpl job!  ...

To Employers: My Pet Peeves For The Day
Nov 10, 2010

Dear Employer:  Please make client sheets clear.  I am so tired of reading a client sheet over and over trying to understand how something is supposed to be done.  There's got to be a better way.  Don't put information in one area of the client sheet and then an exception to the rule somewhere else.  I read through the instructions until I find what I need, if there is an exception to the rule it should be where the rule is, not somewhere else in the instructi ...

3 Pet Peeves Of Dictators All In One Dictation
Feb 16, 2011

Three pet peeves that I have when it comes to dictators are eating, coughing, and sneezing.  I got 'em all in one piece of dictation.  All the way through words are separated by smacking noises, coughing, sneezing, and snorting.  These doofuses should be made to listen to their own dictation.  There are more sound effects than words.  Sorry, just had to vent. ...

Spelling Versus Not Spelling
Feb 11, 2011

I never thought I'd say this, but a dictator can do too much spelling.  There is one at my company who spells out every single medication.  While this is normally helpful, this doctor's pronounciation leaves a little to be desired.  It would be much simpler for him to just say the name of the medication.  ...

Another Poll.
Mar 23, 2010

I would like honest answers. Who will be writing an essay?   I, for one, will not be for so many reasons I can't even state them all, but you all know them well.  The sad fact is that I have only been with MQ since October.  Was promised the moon...but, well, we see where that has gone.  I don't even know where my primary account is anymore!   I fully believe that even if NO ONE submits an essay, there will be a "winner" anyhow, but I'm curios to see ...

6.1 Poll
Sep 15, 2010

I'm one of the holdouts on switching to 6.1.  I use my own computer, a Vista 32 bit and it sounds like it should work.  However, there are so many people complaining how sluggish their computer is now, while others say they are having no problems, I'm curious.  My questions are: 1.  Are you using your own computer? 2.  Is it Vista, XP or Windows 7? 3.  Are you having problems with 6.1 being slow? I guess I'm hoping to hear that my computer will ru ...

MT Poll
Dec 23, 2011

I am curious as to the status of other MTs around the country.  If you are a regular production-paid MT working as an employee or IC for a transcription company (i.e. not a team lead, supervisor, owner, etc.), I would appreciate your feedback in this little poll. How many years have you been in this business? What company do you currently work for? What platform (if any) do you currently work with? How many lines per hour do you average? How many hours a week do you work? What is your ...

Re THE POLL
Dec 23, 2011

For all of you who screamed (yes I heard it as screaming or whining) about the purpose, ulterior motives, etc.  For gawd's sake, if you are posting anonymously, what does it matter to give the particular information the poster asked for?  No, I'm not the OP and I'm not an MTSO, don't own a suit.  Just someone who can't figure out how some of you get through life being outright miserable, suspicious, and unhappy.  Sharing info with another MT (or even ...

Can We Do A Pay Poll?
Oct 30, 2014

I think it will help us all to know where we stand.  Maybe put a range of experience first, like 1-5 years, 6-10 years, 11-15 and 15+ and then your Regular/SR rate (not including any eve or weekend differentials).  I'll start:  11-15 years of experience.  0.0825 regular/ 0.0465 SR. For me, this is a pay cut recently.  I was working at a different company until recently, making .09 regular and .05.  Even though I know this MT thing is going down, it still suck ...

Taking A Poll
Sep 01, 2010

If you get NJA on a very regular basis, reply with what state you are in.  Apparently, some states require pay for downtime, CA I believe being one of them.  I'm not sure of the other states.  Obviously, work can be routed to or away from us at will, and I have a feeling they are choosing MTs from the states that mandate downtime pay over states that don't. ...

Taking A Poll? How Much Time Per Day
May 23, 2010

do you spend doing required work that you don't get paid for?  For instance: "Simply" punching in for the day, then punching out, in and out again if you take a break or have a split shift on our zippy and oh-so-easy-to navigate ScheduleSource. Keeping an expanded paper file (fills up my desk) of all the client profiles we have to know like the back of our hand (so far 43 for me in the last 18 months). Line Count Poll
Aug 24, 2011

I'm wondering if some of you could share with me what your company line per hour requirements are.  Precyse now requires 240 lines for the voice recognition crap and 160 for the straight transcription crap and if you don't meet those requirements you are history.  I'm curious as to what everyone else is expected to do for the privilege of eeking out a living.   Thanks! ...

Poll: Anyone Happy? Share Please.
Mar 29, 2014

There are times I do enjoy the work. However, I have a few failed audits, performance management for lines, and NJA, so lately not too thrilled. I just wish it would get better. Sometimes I too would like to quit, but just keep plugging along. For me, at least it is some income adding to the pot, and that is a blessing. I often wonder would I save more money not working-dinner out due to no time to cook, lunch out due to no time for grocery store-you know the drill.  Anyhow, trying to have ...
