6.1 poll - Mouse

Posted: Sep 15, 2010

I'm one of the holdouts on switching to 6.1.  I use my own computer, a Vista 32 bit and it sounds like it should work.  However, there are so many people complaining how sluggish their computer is now, while others say they are having no problems, I'm curious.  My questions are:

1.  Are you using your own computer?

2.  Is it Vista, XP or Windows 7?

3.  Are you having problems with 6.1 being slow?

I guess I'm hoping to hear that my computer will run just fine with 6.1, although I'm not confident about that!  My computer is only about a year and a half old and has 3.00 GB RAM if that makes a difference.

UGH.. just download so we can enter contest! - I hate slackers

IT IS NO DIFFERENT!!!!! If you are that worried, get a MQ computer. If that is not good enough, find another job.

People like you ruin it for everyone.

UGHH! I hate people who jump down - Gheesh! GET a grip

other people throats for asking a question!! People like you make me glad I don't work in an office!

Then call me a slacker! - Mouse

I couldn't care less if you think I'm a slacker. I won't download until I have to. I was just hoping to see if there was any pattern to the people who were having problems as opposed to those who aren't.

And what on God's green earth do you mean by the comment "People like you ruin it for everyone." RUIN WHAT??? Are you figuring on winning one of those TVs or gift cards? Tell you what, if I do end up in that contest and win, you can have my prize if it means that much to you!

As far as the program itself, I have not found it so bad. I really don't care for the physician look-up, but am getting used to it. I downloaded it because I was using a Windows 7 computer and had to end up loading it from DocQmanage every day, as it would not load from an icon on my desktop, which in turn you get upgrades when you do that automatically. Anyway, it would not load on my computer and I had a lot of trouble. I called Medquist support, Microsoft support, who told me to try XP mode download, which did not work for me. I had to order a Medquist computer, which I am still waiting for. Luckily one of my family members lent me an XP computer that I am using now in order to be able to work. I have not done the training, as I think it is a waste of my time, since there was nothing really that I couldn't figure out on my own. I really don't care about contests.

In my opinion, if you have an XP computer, just download from DocQmanage and it will put the upgrade on (I think you have to remove it from your system first and reload it) and I don't think you will find anything too difficult to learn. You can always do the training if you choose.

If you have a Windows 7 computer, I would not download it unless you have an XP available to use. A person or 2 on here say they are using it with Windows 7, and I am not saying they are not, but I have not figured out how to use it with Windows 7 and was able to before the upgrade.

Again, as far as the program itself, I have not run across anything that is all that difficult to figure out.

do you honestly think the contest will be fair? - NJA Queen

[ In Reply To ..]
Hey I want the extra $$ as much as everyone else but I know that either MQ will not even do the drawing or they will have the CCMs pick their favorite people (MT of the Year content anyone?). Or they could, as some poster already suggested, post a list of made up names so it looks like MQ gave away the money when they didn't. This whole contest was probably a fake in order to get MTs to transfer to 6.1 which does not help the MT, only MQ. You have a better shot of winning a new position at a better company than winning this contest.

Sooner or later you have to download it anyway. - Answers

2) Vista.

3) No.

Please just get it over with.

Don't have to download it until they fix it! sm - mqmt

Got rolled back as to so many problems and personally all the "things" they claimed were going to help are a pain in the butt! Needs lots of fixing that is for sure!

Downloaded it the first day...was very slow, then unchecked the "check document as you go", got rid of everything else also except the "skip" and it works pretty much as before..so basically no problems..just uncheck everything !! Of course the physician look up slow you down..but what're we gonna do, they think it is great, forgot to ask the MTs, but what else is new...

An MQ computer...

No big deal to upgrade.... - Just go for it

[ In Reply To ..]
1. No
2. XP
3. Just physician look up, but everyone is experiencing that because it comes from the main database or somewhere out in cbyer world. ***It takes maybe 3 seconds for the name to pop up. I believe what people are referring to as "slow" is "not instantaneous" like before.***

Honestly, it really is not ANY different from the old version.

You can use your same heading expansions as always and if you don't want to use auto number, don't use it. Simple as that.

1. Vista 64 bit
2. 6.1 not compatible with 64 bit system (VISTA/WIN7) w/o fiddling with commands in Editor which I am not willing to do.
3. I had to download it on my old XP system. VERY, VERY, VERY SLOW to run in every aspect.

Those who are not having any difficulty and do not notice 6.1 is slower most likely use old MQ XP systems and are used to sloooooow performance anyway.

I have heard that version 6.2 upcoming at some point, will address some glitches in 6.1 and be compatible with 64 bit systems. Until that is ready, If it were ME, I would not upgrade. I will bet that you will still be able to use the older DQS version until 6.2 is ready for download. Anyway, you have nothing to lose by NOT downloading 6.1.

If I had know before I atempted the download that 6.1 was not capable of working on a 64 bit system, I would NEVER have attempted to download it onto my VISTA 64, as it screwed up the older DQS version and that won't load anymore. I am now forced to work on my crappy XP that is incredibly slow. Highly frustrating working like this on a daily basis.

I use a 32 bit Vista system - It is MY computer, not MQ

[ In Reply To ..]
The performance is no different than it was before, which is not at all slow.
Physician Lookup - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
In order to comply with HIPAA requirements, the physician lookup feature was reworked and is not only slower to load but very clumsy to use no matter whose computer you have or whether it is Vista/Win7/XP.

Also, according to Support personnel, a few of the features so highly touted in the tutorial, specifically for headings and pronoun agreement, are not enabled at this time.
I was addressing this particular blanket statement. - ---

"Those who are not having any difficulty and do not notice 6.1 is slower most likely use old MQ XP systems and are used to sloooooow performance anyway."

I was simply stating that that analysis does not apply to me and I know that others have said it does not apply to them.

While I wish the physician lookup was put back the old way, it is not "slower to load and very clumsy" for me, but perhaps that is because I don't have an issue with hitting Alt + S. To each their own.

Change is inevitable. You either deal with it and move on or try to hide from it. Either way, it will get you anyway.

I'm the type of person who would rather just get it over with.

But like I said, to each their own. I'm just glad that I've had a full shift of work all week this week, unlike last week when I had NJA 4 days in a row and didn't type a single report.

Cheers!

64 bit - nan

Yeah, I got that surprise one morning when I went to log in on my 64-bit Windows 7 and it wouldn't work anymore and had to borrow an XP computer while waiting for Medquist computer. I had not heard that 6.2 will be compatible. Can't wait so I can get back to my computer before Windows 8 120-bit or something comes out and my new computer will be out of date. LOL
