Poll: Anyone happy? Share please. - mt

Posted: Mar 29, 2014

There are times I do enjoy the work. However, I have a few failed audits, performance management for lines, and NJA, so lately not too thrilled. I just wish it would get better. Sometimes I too would like to quit, but just keep plugging along. For me, at least it is some income adding to the pot, and that is a blessing. I often wonder would I save more money not working-dinner out due to no time to cook, lunch out due to no time for grocery store-you know the drill.  Anyhow, trying to have a better attitude, in spite of my issues at work.  Share how you feel too, if you want.

SORRY, WON'T GET BETTER - Diane King

In April, the new QA score will be 99.7%. If you do not CONSISTENTLY go above that.... you are on your way out. My audit scores that came in with the group were good. When my QAM did them, not AS good, but the 'good' ones didn't count except they might have prolonged my termination date.

I'd just try to hang in there as long as you can! That's what I did. It all started 'happening' in Dec. I hung on for 3 more months through failed audits, 100% QA, all the steps TOWARD termination and then... FIRED.

I am happy. - East MT

I start the coding course on Monday. they plan to offer it again late summer if anyone is interested in applying.

How did you find out about this? - mt

[ In Reply To ..]
is this through MModal? this is ICD-9 coding

yes it is through the coding program. It was offered to all MTs - East MT

[ In Reply To ..]
details came in an email earlier in the month. It is ICD-10. No point in learning 9
Guess I did not see it :( - mt
[ In Reply To ..]
or get it. thanks
Check your email - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Check your spam filter and junk folders. They sent it to everyone, I believe.

It was also discussed here for WEEKS. How could you have been here and missed that?

My point is that you seem to be turning this into a "poor me" scenario. That kind of approach is not helping you. If they do offer it again, you need to be interested, not having performance issues, and ready to pass the test and learn.

The only person who can help you out of your misery is you. It is all in the attitude.
what about the bill - anon4
[ In Reply To ..]
that was just passed in congress to delay ICD-10 until October 2015? I know it has to go before the senate yet, but talk is they will pass it also. If you are not learning anything about ICD-9, will you be coding ICD-10 when you start actually working?
I never heard anything about them offering it again - in the summer.

Did they tell you that during orientation?

Happy!?? You're kidding - Molleycat

[ In Reply To ..]
No I am not happy. I have the worst attitude right now and like one of the docs has stated, I don't give. I'm taking steps to remedy this and am going to litter the city with my resume and I will find something even if it's digging a ditch. I'm tired of working weekends and holidays. I'm tired of being put on the line every night. And I'm especially tired of working evenings and/or nights. 9-5 never sounded so good to me.

Yes, we are very - happy...

[ In Reply To ..]
We have millions

Love and kisses,
Amy and Vern

Yes we are - molleycat

[ In Reply To ..]
Oh thank you so much princess amy and her cohort. But you might want to think about this, you might not be successful the next time aaround.

Cmon, let's try and keep this civil. You can - noneya

[ In Reply To ..]
call them names until the sun don't shine but they were through with MM long before we knew they were on their way out to bigger and better things. Hating them here is wasted energy. And no, I don't know them or am a suit. Just an onlooker. No matter what, good luck.

AND THEN SOME - Diane King

[ In Reply To ..]
Working more and more, extra, but it not only IS NOT good enough, but it is substandard, worthy of termination.

Who needs the constant demoralizing banter from the peanut gallery of CEOs and VPs and MGRS!!!! Chanting the company MANTRA to the MT... "you're no good... work harder, longer, cheaper, perfect only, but you're no good..."

the stress is maddening, so can't say I'm happy. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Always waiting for the next pay cut or round of layoffs. It's really no way to live.

NOT A LAYOFF, TERMINATION - Diane King

[ In Reply To ..]
Layoff would warrant UNEMP BENEFITS. If you get fired, there's a GOOD chance, you will be denied them!

Not necessarily true... - chillywinter

[ In Reply To ..]
You will still be able to collect U/E even if fired, provided you did not steal from the company, were verbally abusive to anyone, physically assaultive or came in intoxicated to work. However, if you voluntarily quit, you will have an uphill battle.
NONE OF THESE - Diane King
[ In Reply To ..]
Did none of these, so will let you know what happens with my UE Benefits... should know this week.
Diane - I can see by reading your posts you don't - Kiki
[ In Reply To ..]
think you will qualify for UE, but please don't worry--I think you will--and I agree totally with chillywinter. I personally know of more than one person who actually DID a couple of the things chilly is describing and STILL got UE. Also, think of this...you have been employed (I assume) by MM for a long time and suddenly they are not happy with your work? If you get turned down (which I highly doubt) you should appeal. UE is retroactive.

yes relatively - corgi

I'm happy I have a job and I can work from home so I don't have to spend money on gas, I don't have a long commute, I don't have to buy "work" clothes. I really like learning like we do when we are typing or editing these reports; the human body is fascinating and fascinating what procedures can be done on it. I worry more than I should about failed audits; hate opening my email to see if I have the dreaded email about a failed audit. I wish our pay hadn't gone down so much over the years. I'm looking for a way out but I don't look hard enough so right now I guess I have to be happy.

I agree with corgi. I have employment. I - SM

[ In Reply To ..]
make a decent wage. I don't have a commute or gas/clothing expenses for work. I have some flexibility when things come up like unexpected vet visits, doctor visits, appointments, etc. I do let my TSM know beforehand as much as possible and all my TSMs have been very easy to work with. I know they've taken away from us but I know many people whose companies have done similar things to them or even let them go so I'm not complaining...at least not too much :)

corgi, were you reading my mind? - could not have said it better myself. nm

Also agree with Corgi, well said!

I agree too, - anon4

[ In Reply To ..]
I cannot think of 1 person that does not have complaint or stress with their job. No matter where you go there is always something you are not happy with. I like being at home and my manager or whatever they are called now, has been flexible with me making up time for appointments(my husband is disabled and goes to therapy, doctor appointments, etc). For me, job stress is of little concern with everything else going on in my life. Look around you, there are people in worse situations.

happy - Yes, I am!

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm happy. I have a job that lets me work from home so I am here when my kids are done school. I make enough to pay my bills. I don't have to pay for gas and car insurance to get to work. I can work in my sweats or pj's.

It's not always sunshine and flowers. Some days I hate the dictators I get. Some days I have to stand up and walk around for a minute and just let out an "arrgggggggghhhhhhhhh" because I am so frustrated.

Overall though, I have it pretty damn good, and I am happy!

Happiness is a... - Warm puppy.

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm not 100% UNhappy, especially since I went part-time. At least now I feel I have some time to actually rest, and I feel less stressed. Could really use the extra cash, but I just pulled back and learned to live on what few bucks I make, and I lost weight doing that! HA! (Seriously I did). :)

I plan to go down to part time in May. Hopefully - I can lose some weight too!

I don't do my job to be happy. I do it - L&L

[ In Reply To ..]
to earn money. I never took a job to be happy. If you require your job to make you happy, I pity you.

If I am spending several hours a day at my job, - I better be happy with it, at least a little!

Another Poll.
Mar 23, 2010

I would like honest answers. Who will be writing an essay?   I, for one, will not be for so many reasons I can't even state them all, but you all know them well.  The sad fact is that I have only been with MQ since October.  Was promised the moon...but, well, we see where that has gone.  I don't even know where my primary account is anymore!   I fully believe that even if NO ONE submits an essay, there will be a "winner" anyhow, but I'm curios to see ...

I guess I'm hoping to hear that my computer will ru ...

MT Poll

I am curious as to the status of other MTs around the country.  If you are a regular production-paid MT working as an employee or IC for a transcription company (i.e. not a team lead, supervisor, owner, etc.), I would appreciate your feedback in this little poll. How many hours a week do you work? What is your ...

Can We Do A Pay Poll?

I think it will help us all to know where we stand.  Maybe put a range of experience first, like 1-5 years, 6-10 years, 11-15 and 15+ and then your Regular/SR rate (not including any eve or weekend differentials).  I'll start:  11-15 years of experience.  0.0825 regular/ 0.0465 SR. For me, this is a pay cut recently.  I was working at a different company until recently, making .09 regular and .05.  Even though I know this MT thing is going down, it still suck ...
