TTS in New Hampshire - any and all information - Babe

Posted: Mar 27, 2012

I have an interview scheduled with TTS in New Hampshire.  I know there's a lot of reference to them on the board, but I'd really like to hear from those who are working there now.  I would really appreciate any and all information.  TIA!

My girlfriend works there now. She likes it. They leave you alone to work, you use yahoo IM to communicate, and the platform is escription, which is easy once you get it down. Pay is average for asr, which I think that's all they have. You won't get rich probably, but it could be a lot worse considering what else is out there.

I dont know about that, TTS sounds pretty - horrid to me.

maybe your girlfriend is in with the "in-crowd" and gets all he gravy.

I work there now and am currently looking for employment elsewhere. I'm not sure how the MTs are treated, but the administrative staff, the trainers, the auditors and QA peeps are treated horribly. The CEO is a nightmare who micromanages everything. The emails that go out to everyone are accusatory, demeaning, and downgrading - and EVERYONE gets to see them point you out for the smallest error - and usually an error for something that particular person hadn't even been trained on yet. If they promise you a certain shift when they hire you - get it in writing. The company's motto should be "We don't motivate... we humiliate."

Lol!!! "we dont motivate, we humiliate"..thats - hillarious!

They wasted so much of my time, energy, $$$ w/their software and clueless system admin who installed infected software onto my business machine completely fried it (had to purchase another system out of my own pocket)screwed up my unemployment by accepting their position in the first place which was so not worth it. Biggest mistake I ever made in choosing an MT company was in choosing TTS.
Wow they installed "infected" software to - your PC??...sm
[ In Reply To ..]
that says a lot about a company when their IT dept installs a virus to your computer.

They should have reimbursed you for having to purchase a new system.
SURE DID! Their IT dept consists of 1 person and... - sm

the micromanaging owner/1-woman show "L" & both are completely clueless. I would see all the emails of the new MTs that would be complaining of the virus wrecking their machines too after TTS software installs, it still never clicked for them being the problem. And try telling that micromanaging know-it-all owner that her IT dept. of herself and one other person are completely clueless, she still wouldn't believe it even with proof. Majority of the machines infected were older XP machines with a known vulnerability on them for the worm to work.
LOL!!! Unbelievable. I have heard it all. - You guys posts are hillarious..sm
[ In Reply To ..]
this TTS company sounds like a disaster. One person in the IT dept and its the owner and just one other person? and they are trying to run an entire company?

These posts are killing me...TTS sounds like a comedy show!

I felt the same way you do at first..SM - Old Anon

I had a few exchanges with the queen bee at first, but I calmly laid out my proof, documentation, and rationale for my so-called faux pas AND she backed down. I have learned to keep a low profile and make sure my a** is covered at all times. The thing I like about TTS is that I have one main account and one back-up account, both of which I know very well. My main account runs out rarely, so I know the dictators and can get very good line counts on SR and the little straight typing I have. If you go to the big nationals, it's not going to be like that. I have 2 accounts with 2 sets of account specifics which are pretty similar. I have escription and editscript which are amazing. If you can get past the personalities you have to deal with and let things slide off your back, you should be okay.

I have one of those positions you mentioned above which are treated horribly. Nearly every day ends in tears. "Defeated" is the prevailing emotion at the end of the day, so if you get a less than stellar phone call from one of us, realize we're at the breaking point most days.

Not today poster is absolutely correct-total micromanage - Agree with Not Today

and they definitely DO NOT leave you alone to just do your work. MTs especially are monitored on line count, time your fingers are actually hitting the keyboard, etc. I worked there and it was like getting out of prison when I left, literally!

P.S. They also have dictaphone, not just Escription. Also, whatever platform you work on, you are being monitored constantly in the background. They actually tell you to use a stopwatch for potty breaks, etc. WHAT!

TTS - TedEBear

Definitely do NOT leave you alone. As far as IM? No way. That is only for training. "Shut down the IMs or you will be fired." There can be no communication that isn't seen by the boss. Everything has to be in an e-mail. I'm on Dictaphone side, not Escription. That is true about the stop watch, too. Stick to your schedule 100%, no "deviations" even if you are IC.

Unfortunately, they do send demeaning e-mails when you receive feedback. The pay is horrible and if you take a job with them, be sure you stay under the radar. Other than that, it's just great. :)

LOL They don't motivate..they humiliate! YEP..that's them - sm

CEO is a micromanaging nightmare and QA is so horrible. You will get conflicting feedback 99% of the time and over-editing feedback that will waste your time & fry your last nerves. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Their admin team is beyond incompetent too. If you're not in thick w/B & L you don't have a chance of sticking around long. Their accounts have the most impossible and unbelievable account specifications beyond the norm which you will be dinged for in audits. All their accounts are eScription contracts which are continually & consistently audited all the time.

All accounts on eScription? I'm willing to bet - they will be owned by

[ In Reply To ..]
Nuance soon.
TTS has only eScription and Dictaphone platforms...which - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
TTS gets all their contracts through Nuance and I believe Dictaphone is owned by Nuance, as well. So yes, all Nuance contracted more than likely soon to be owned. TTS QA auditing is done through Nuance QA audits. Which makes it nice and confusing to the MT to be critiqued not only by the degrading MTSO but the software platform company as well. Wooohoo!
Yep, Nuance owns dictaphone - see msg
[ In Reply To ..]
I worked for a hospital where we used Dictaphones and yes they came from Nuance, it was on the packaging and whenever we had problems with the phones, thats where we got replacements from.

Chances are if Nuance is doing QA work for TTS and they are using all Nuance software, they at some point will be 100% owned by Nuance. They sound too unorganized to make it in the industry for much longer.

I work there - me

[ In Reply To ..]
I have been working there. It's not bad. Work is available, but they sure are not flexible. You have to make sure you are there when you are scheduled or they will e-mail you asking why you were not logged in, even for 10 minutes late. QA is good, the best out there so far, compared to other companies I have worked for where everyone is clueless. give it a try, lots of VR if you like that stuff.

You must be an anomaly..lol. If you think TTS QA is good... - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
QA is good? Wow, they must have overhauled their QA dept. When I was there just a few months back, QA was whomever was on at any given moment in MGMT, which were always clueless & conflicting. If you think they're good I would have hated to see the other companies QA departments you worked for. Holy COW!

Doesn't sound like TTS will be in business for long - judging by these posts

[ In Reply To ..]
One woman had a virus installed by the IT dept, and then they are sending out humiliating emails for all to see chastising employees. The QA dept is whoever is in managment at the moment...just sounds like a whole lot of disorganization to me.

If they are running the company that way, how are they doing with their accounts and finances? They will probably be next to be bought out.

Any New Information About TTS?
Mar 21, 2010

Hi, I am speaking with TTS about a job.  The thing that I am concerned about is they said in their introduction that, "Production time is tracked off the technology system and monitors the time you are actually in the document working (hands on the keyboard or foot on the pedal).  If you are idle in excess of 4 minutes the time stops tracking.  You must remain actively working.  If you are researching etc, give it 3 minutes." I am assuming this means that you if you get ...
