Last week I talked to their recruiter and would like to hear from current/recent employees regarding how good the speech recognition program is and how much work do you really do that is straight transcription. Their line rate seemed low for straight transcribing but fair for editing. The recruiter wouldn't answer my direct question on how much of the work is editing. I'm not interested in straight typing for their line rate but if most of the work is editing with a decent program I may give them a try.

The editing is off and on - you skip from client to client. Mostly straight typing. Where there is editing it is a pain because of the software and is not well trained. Cannot make any money with this company. Some accounts are totally nonproductive with very poor quality dictation. Ran out of work daily.

My gut instinct is you wouldn't make any money at their low line rate for transcription and I hadn't heard of their editing program before. I'll stay right where I am and at least have a decent paycheck - I won't work for nothing!

One reason the recruiter won't/can't give you an answer regarding how much VR is because it is an ongoing process. The accounts generally have very poor dictators and they just can't be done with VR. Some of the better dictators do get switched to VR. However, that isn't good either, because the speech software is also very poor. I'm sure I'm not the only MT who ends up just deleting the VR and typing the whole thing myself. So bottom line, while the rate is for both straight and speech, it ends up being a very poor line rate for lots of straight VBC typing and deficient VR. To management, I suppose it looks like 70/30 or 80/20, but from my side of the fence, it is basically 98% straight typing with a few decent speech sentences here and there. I haven't been there all that long, but the VR just does not seem to be improving. The line rate is pretty depressing when compared to what some of you out there are earning.

There are reports, however, where you go and copy an entire five page previously transcribed report into your own and get paid for all those lines.

It is all one specialty, so you're not jumping around. You will learn your dictators. Sure, it takes some time, but that's across the board in MT these days.

You get PTO in a bank that you can draw out as money at any time. You can save it up for Christmas or vacation time and withdraw it all at once.

This job has been very flexible in my needs and is employee status with benefits if you want them. The QA people are super nice and always on to help and assist. The managers are all very nice and professional indeed.

I would highly recommend Saince as I've tried other employee large MTSOs and found it hard to make a line count no matter what. At least with Saince, there is a continuity of the work given to you and the support is excellent because they know some of the dictators are challenging. Most companies just expect you to know it and do it.

All in all, a nice company and I highly recommend giving them a try.

Just wondering how many other people started with Saince and then left. I started a month ago. The first thing I had an issue with was the fact that I would be called several times by the recruiter and absolutely could not get off the phone with this woman. Avoid Saince. They are intrusive, constantly calling and they don't pay. They hijacked my PC for 33-1/2 hours and their paperwork said they pay $10 an hour and then today I was told they only pay a flat rate $100. HELLO!! THEY OWE ME $335 BEFORE TAXES THANK YOU! Saince Transcription no longer has a QA Staff. They let them all go about a month ago. The MTs have been divided into teams with a team leader who is doing all the QA for the team. This poor team leader is really doing the QA for nothing, they get an extra 10% on their cpl rate to offset doing the QA, but sounds like that could really cut down your production.
