.

there are several accounts here.... - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
the first one is a multispecialty account that pays per audio minute including ortho, gastro, plastic, etc.

the second account is ortho clinic which pays 7 cpl full or part time. with 24 hr tat.

the first account was 4-6 hours tat.

You should be ashamed of yourself - go away

[ In Reply To ..]
7 cpl is a poor wage for an employee, for an IC it's simply ridiculous. Until the MTSOs like yourself figure out you're going to get what you pay for and go back to paying a livable wage to MTs, I hope no one takes your job.

The only way we'll get the wages raised are to stop accepting the abuse.

I AM NOT AN MTSO... - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I am an MT just like you! and I also feel 7 cpl is c**p wages. I was only trying to explain to the OP who did not seem to understand the ad. so go shame on someone else. obviously you can't read postings properly either.

pay per audio minute - FYI

Basically, when they want to pay you by the minute of dictation they have a formula they follow. They estimate that on average each minute is so many lines. Does that make sense? I did this type of account before and it's pretty accurate. As far as 7 cpl, with the way things are going for transcriptionists, that's not really that bad. I don't think we'll ever see 10-13 cpl again in this industry. It's sad, but true!!
Why would anyone use an inaccurate formula.... - starzz
[ In Reply To ..]
when there is an exact formula out there? Anyone who has been in transcription for any length of time knows that depending on the dictator, a 2-minute dictation by a speed-talker can acctually be longer than a 10- minute dictation by a lollygagger. Happens all the time. It reminds me of a time long ago when everyone wanted to pay by the page and then the accounts would make the margins 0.5 x 0.5 and use small fonts, etc. to make it almost impossible to make minimum wage. We have an extremely accurate system for calculating lines...it's called a 65-character line WITH spaces, thank you very much!

Wow - MT

[ In Reply To ..]
Wow...and you all wonder why you can't get decent jobs? You can't even read a simple job ad. Thanks to the MT who "got it" just like I did the first time I read it.

7 cpl ror ortho is still bad - CTMT

[ In Reply To ..]
first they cut us from 10/11 cents to 9, then 8.5, then 8, now 7 cpl - its actually the MT's that take these positions who cause the rates to go down. If one MTSO sees another one getting away with it, then they will do it too.

Did you ever consider - sm

That the MTSO's, especially smaller ones, have to reduce the cpl they charge to acquire a contract? Thanks mostly to VR.

BUT, as I recall, 7 cpl has been pretty standard for subcontracting for years.

Can Someone Tell Me About Pay By Audio Minute/page?
Sep 28, 2013

I am getting ready to test for this company (not medical) for a transcription job. They advised me that their starting pay (depending on account) is 0.40 per audio minute up to $1.25 per audio minute and then they have some accounts that pay 0.65 per page up to $1.75 per page. Does anyone know if I could make decent money doing this full-time? I know it depends on speed and quality of audio (which is supposed to be good) but I am just wondering how things go based on this type of pay option. ...

Pay Per Audio Talking Minute
Jan 16, 2015

Note, these are non-MT jobs. I have been applying to jobs that pay per "audio talking minute." These are all basically customer service jobs which might include a little tech help and also might include some upselling. Anyone have a take on this? After I quit MT, I SWORE I would never do any job that was not hourly or otherwise a guaranteed amount per paycheck. Has anyone done this type of work? I guess I'm curious what "audio talking minute" means. I'm assuming it means not ...

Fox Transcriptions Pay Of 40-50 Cents Per Audio Minute
Feb 06, 2013

Even at 50 cents an audio minute, if you get a 10-minute report that would equate to $5.00. Usually it takes 30 minutes to do a 10-minute report so that would mean one would receive $10.00 an hour. If only getting 40 cents, that's $8.00 an hour. PFFT! I don't see how this is any improvement over our standard slave wages, yet their ad sounds like they invented the wheel or sliced bread. With a name like "Fox," it's got to be bad. (Apologies to Smucker's.) ...

Job Pays 30 Cents Per Audio Minute, Geez
Jan 18, 2013

So there is job posted that pays 30 cents an audio minute.  How generous!  You figure depending on the dictator and difficulty of transcript 60 minutes of audio is equal to 3 hours of transcribing.  Granted, most of the time it does not take that long, but just in case for good measure we'll say 3 hours for 60 audio minutes.  Do the math!  30 cents a minute x 60 (1 hr)= 1800.  So another words, if you divide 1800 by 3 you get your hourly rate = 6 buck ...
