Keystrokes, Diskriter or Freedom Type, any info? - mtperson

Need info on Freedom Type, Keystrokes or Diskriter. I live in Okla and worked for a local service until recently. They downsized and cut the transcription dept. I now have a job with Medquist but can't get any work through them. Like most, I need a paycheck, not just a job title. I'm looking for a good company to work for who is honest and provides a work load that is not constantly running out. I've seen some good reviews on these 3 companies but any current info or opinions would help. Thanks!

I have worked for KS and Freedom Type. My experience is as described below but things may have changed since then.

Keystrokes accounts were either overflow or used very cumbersome and complicated platforms. The main problem for me was that more work was always "coming on board or going live soon" but it never happened.

The owner of Freedom Type is very nice but the QA person that she had then was more than insulting. The accounts were awful and when I ventured to ask her when I may be off QA, she told me "when you show me you know what you don't know." I can take constructive criticism but that one took the cake and also expedited my resignation.

As for Diskriter, I have no knowledge of that company, but I am sure there are other MTs who can offer their experience with them.

If you are looking for companies that are currently hiring, type Jacob Peebles into your search bar and subscribe to his free newsletter that he sends out weekly. It contains many job openings by state or by specialty as well as the "urgent need" positions.

I am presently very happy where I am now but I still subscribe to his listings because nowadays one never knows.

I should get the newsletter any day but like you, I could not locate it under search. In the meantime, go to MT Daily. At the main page click on Free Stuff. On the next page in the far upper right hand corner you will see MT Jobs. Click on that. Now on the next page in the small heading, the first one says Search Jobs. Click on that it will open a page with drop downs for all specifics of the type of MT job you are looking for. After you choose each category you will get a company that closest matches what you are looking for that is now hiring. When I get the newsletter I will get back to you with that link. Sorry, but I delete them after I look them over. Hope the above information helps.

I hired on with Freedom Type in August. The owner is a very nice woman, but the QA person (whom I was told to not think was picky, it was just her nature) was way overboard and nitpicky. Her feedback was never positive or constructive. It was just punitive about account specifics. I've never worked with anyone like that. Plus, the constant sending, resending, zipping up files was a big problem as far as production. After 1 day, and seeing what I had accomplished and the crappy line rate, I decided it wasn't worth my time or theirs, and left.

I cannot answer for the other two companies, but I am currently working for Keystrokes. I love it! I have been with them for 1.5 years. I guess it depends on what department you are in, but I have assigned accounts. You can always ask your lead for extra work to get your line counts up. This is a great company (as far as I am concerned) that makes you feel part of a team and not just a number in the bunch, especially since we work from our homes. Our leads do our QA. I have not had any issues at all. I always have work and am offered extra work on a regular basis. Sometimes there is overflow work and STAT work as well. I am very happy with Keystrokes and plan to stay on as long as I possibly can! Hope this helps you.

I am SOOOO happy to report that I am no longer employed by M. Modal. I cannot say how much of a relief it is to not be held hostage by this joke of a company.
