Any recent info on Keystrokes, good or bad? Thanks!

I loved my account I had, problem is the account manager quit and the job died the same day. I asked repeatedly for another account and was told they only had Dictaphone accounts, yet the job board said they had all types. I never did get an answer, but while I was there I loved what I did. It was difficult to get answers about anything really, you got passed around a lot.

Worked there 3 months. Sound quality was awful. There was no QA. The only way they could listen to blanks was over the phone. Had to leave blanks and they didn't even care. Had several hours a day without work. Sent email to ask for a different account to the administrator who hired me and never got responses to emails.

Terribly disorganized company. Management LIES to your face on a regular basis. Paychecks are late at least once per year, sometimes more. Accounts are overstaffed. Leads are allowed to cherrypick the work, leaving the crud jobs (if there are any left at all) for the MTs.

Read the archives, and you will learn that the company was busted by the IRS back when they hired ICs but treated them as employees. (Now they hire employees...)

That company is bad news. RUN and don't look back!

I am the OP for both KS and DK. Fortunately (apparently) by the sounds of it, the AM didn't think I was a good fit. I was to have an interview with KS tomorrow, however, after reading about the late pay, I wrote and said I was not interested. Thanks all!!!!

If you listen to the negative posts on here, you are losing out on good companies. sm - just sayin

I have worked for FT KS for 3 years and MQ PT for 9 years, at the same time. I am moving to KS only next month because my MQ work is the pits now, and I still love my KS account.

As with any company, it depends on each individual experience. I do know, from reading the newsletter every month, that many employees have been at KS for a long time, which says something good for them.

All companies have good and bad. Keystrokes is a good company overall, but the same 2 or 3 people keep dogging them. They say the same things every time KS is mentioned and keep going, even though a lot of their information is false.

You can't possibly know how many posters are on here revealing the TRUTH (which you call "dogging") about KS.

I know that I am only one person, but I am seeing numerous posts that are NOT mine, and based upon posting style, etc. I believe that there are SEVERAL DIFFERENT former KSers posting here.

While you're reading that newsletter, just remember that the president has her entirely FAMILY on the payroll. If I were working for my aunt, cousin, or whatever and could goof off without any repercussions (is that why management there stinks so badly and is completely incompetent?), I would stick around for years and years too.

They have an abudnance of MTs. How many out of their TOTAL EMPLOYEES ARE LONG TERM? They have lawsuits (2 on record just by Google), now the busted by IRS situation, their own click in the office, IF you get a QA, it depends on who you are on how it is graded, whether they nit pick with commas or if they just let them slide, CHERRY picking of all LEADS as they don't pay them an hourly rate, so their "bonus pay" is the ability to cherry pick, and MOST OF ALL ABSOLUTELY NO COMMUNICATION UNLESS THEY NEED EXTRA HELP ON AN ACCOUNT. Then you are told overtime isn't authorized but "hop on and work" if you want to work extra, and that's exactly what their lawsuit is over that still is open and awaiting trial. Their long-term MTs work the OT just to get the lines they need and just deal with it. I was told that personally.

Same person posting AGAIN, obviously. The OT lawsuit was settled and dismissed. I called the lawyer listed and was told that they are no longer pursuing the matter.

There were 2 lawsuits, both settled, neither with guilt.

There is no "IRS situation". I have been part of KS for 10 years and always an employee. They moved ICs to employees many years ago in order to offer benefits and because of tight TATs and schedules.

Leads are compensated well, no need to cherry-pick. We are also excellent transcriptionists, again no need to cherry pick. In fact, if I do pick reports, they are the harder ones to move work flow through.

The statement about "hop on and work" is completely false. Everyone is required to report their hours, no working extra without OT and no OT unless authorized, which does happen.

As for long-term employees, on the 2 accounts I lead, there are over 30 MT's that have been with KS greater than 5 years, the time I have been the lead.

If you are unhappy, that's your right, but lying makes you look a fool, as does your grammar, misuse of words and shouting.

Settlements usually are made before guilt is determined - They probably paid to stop the trial

That's what normally happens when they "settle". There's no doubt leads are compensated; they get to cherry pick the work. I've habit personally done to me and the Lead took it all.

They are out for every penny they can take from the MTs. There are emails that exist Stating OT is not authorized but can get on and work without claiming OT and they are out up for a rainy day. You talk about lies??? You might not be lying, but you are very misinformed on what goes on everywhere at KS.

If you changed your mind based on late pay "at least once a YEAR", you weren't very interested in the job in the first place. I never worked for them, but i would have at least tried. Just my opinion, everybody had one.

and I can only recall payroll being late twice. IS KS perfect? No. Is any company perfect? No. Each person has a different story based on what account/lead they end up with. I had some hard accounts and leads that I had no communication with but I talked to the owner a couple of times and now I am on a great account with a great lead and making the money I need to support myself and my children. I hate that you gave up so easily, you may have liked working for them. Good luck with your job hunting!

People can take their chances. I know for a fact that there are MTs begging for work, barely making enough money to keep afloat, and at the same time the leads take the work.

It's well known about the favors to family and their pets. You can get lucky and be one of them or you will think that no one even knows you work there. Good luck in getting questions answered from anyone or your benefits at the time they are due.

You have your cheerleaders here cheering for KS, but don't discount those who have had negative experiences. It's not the best place in the industry to work, and it very well could end up being the worst experience of your career.

late pay, cliques, and other craziness - shorttimer

I have been at KS 3 years. I am leaving shortly. I have stuck it out because I knew I was leaving soon to pursue another career. My pay has been late 4 times in 3 years, incorrect 5 times. I lost my health insurance (which consumed a very large part of my pay) not too long ago. Their are pets and cliques for sure, just check out the last times, an account coordinater and an IT guy - same last name (and they are related to the owners, and the maiden name of this person exactly the same as the owner's name), a previous lead and another IT guy - mother and son, and the list goes on and on. There are a few great leads - a lot more awful ones. I am on an account that is usually busy, often times swamped, usually because MTs bail or are removed for poor quality work. There is often overtime on this account, but it is hard to come by. OT will be offered on Sunday and Monday, but by Thursday there is no work, so you give up your weekend, and lose the OT because you didn't make 40 hours in the week.

I have voiced my opinion on the "surveys" never to hear a word back.

MT work is heading down the tubes, on the backs of companies like KS. So glad to be leaving for another profession in the medical field, where I'm sure I will have work for years to come.

Have done an archive search but looking for more current info from people currently working or just stopped working at Keystrokes. What happened years ago really doesn't concern me because we all know how fast it changes in this business. Not trying to discount anyones opinion just want to make an informed decision based on current status of company. Pay on time? Meet quota? etc. ...

Need info on Freedom Type, Keystrokes or Diskriter. I live in Okla and worked for a local service until recently. They downsized and cut the transcription dept. I now have a job with Medquist but can't get any work through them. Like most, I need a paycheck, not just a job title. and QA dings me for one. Unbelievable. That's what it averages for 1400 lines a day full-time. Even with 3 cups of coffee and an office chair seat belt, it's no easy feat. Ninety-thousand keystrokes PER DAY. That's not including the ADT, the Internet look-ups, etc. Throw me a bone here, QA. How many keystrokes to you do, PERFECTLY?? ...
