A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
I am looking into to taking a second job to make extra money. My main job pays by the hour as I work directly for a hospital and it is a combination of speech and straight transcription work. Consequently, I'm thinking maybe taking a strictly speech job would be easier on my neck, shoulders, arms, and hands, but I don't want to be wasting my time. If I'm not going to make any money doing it, why bother?
So I would like to know if there are any MTs out there who do strictly speech at the "going rate" of 4 cpl and are making decent money. How many lines per day are you pulling in order to make decent money?
With my main job, I find that the speech jobs are not that much faster for me. We use Dictaphone and it just sucks. I'd much rather type the reports. But if there is a speech platform that is actually productive, I'd like to know about it and apply for those companies that use that platform.
Thanks!
