If I can't beat them, is it possible to join them? - MTNeedyGreedy

I was just recently hired in by a company who told me that I could not have any other VR software on my computer. Why not? Well suffice it to say, I quit because of other things going on,but I started thinking;what if I did have my own VR software and why not allow it while working for this company. My question is if I bought my own software for VR and train it while the dictators are dictating, can I increase my speed by just talking into my own software while the other VR is playing and just finishing the report. I am just asking folks, so please don't come at me too hard. Can this be done?

Hi there - I was wondering about this very same thing! Someone I know suggested that it would simplify the editing, if the VR only had one voice to recognize (yours, from training it). less editing = more efficient = more pay...
I wonder if this is exactly why the company doesn't want you to have your own VR software...??

with less mistakes? What are you going to do if you cannot understand what is dictated? There will be a discrepancy regarding the time marker. How can you notify the QA about this?
A lot of question that are not answered by MTs who say that they use it and it is so fabulous!?

if they know will not let you use this. I have a friend who asked up front and the answer was no. Do you think there might be a conflict in the 2 systems, that is why? Not sure myself but what VR were they planning on using or do you know?

I think it is worth a try because I talk out loud to keep up with the VR now, so talking to train my own VR might be the thing to keep food on the table and beat them at their own game. They know darn well you cannot make your same pay.

I have been told by hiring personnel at services that using a keyboard to put the words on the screen is "transcription" but using your voice is called "re-dictation," so it is not allowed.

IMO, that's as dumb as saying that using an expander is "stenotype" and not transcription.

The truth is, you're supposed to be paid for what is complete and ready for charting and not HOW the words got on your screen.

I am a concerned IC. I would like to keep my job(s) as an IC and actually still have MTSOs be around to provide jobs. With all of this garbage constantly going on and hurting the businesses, I think that there needs to be some recourse for the MTSOs.
