Down below when I was trying to figure out if the reason I got laid off was because I was PT (CCM told me all PT were being laid off) or that I was in California (I thought maybe this was the case).....I realize that neither of these are true. I know there are still plenty of PT'ers left AND MTs in CA. So the only thing left (since like I said I always passed their stupid audits and always worked my graveyard/Saturday/sunday/all holidays shifts is that they were just trying to get rid of the highest paid MTs! DUH!!! Not sure why I didn't figure this out. I was making 9.75 cents a line for regular and 6 cents a line for VR. As I'm starting to look for another job I realize that NO company is paying that high...ZERO....NONE...the highest offer I've seen is 8/4. That seems to be the going rate regardless of whether you are a newby or have 20 years' experience. I'm not sure why I really needed to know WHY they laid me off (because in reality that IS what I wanted), but now I know they are a bunch of skuz balls (why didn't they just tell me the real reason--I despise liars)....Oh well, thanks for listening to my rant.

I know now that Spark is not just my computer problem, it's many people having the same. I'm not even going to open that crap or bother with it. Among other such stupid Nuance time-wasting and useless crap.

Maybe it was a combination of things....9.75 is still considered too much to them I think. Maybe that combined with my being in California and them having to pay me my benefit rate where there was down time. I am sure they didn't like that. I'm 48 so probably not age (I would HOPE anyway, jeesh). Are you in CA?

and pulled out 100. That's all I can figure. And for what? Really it seemed they laid off so few that it hardly mattered, and then they turned around and hired people (I guess they are not hiring right now though). Really the whole thing made no sense.

as I said in my previous post, I believe there is a hiring freeze right now, but after the layoffs that happened last year, MM went about rehiring. It really made no sense to me and still doesn't.

KIND of employee only, i.e., doesn't make too much, doesn't live in a state with employee-favoring labor laws, etc....makes perfect sense to me now.

I was still there during the layoffs and made 10 and 6. I left later on because I got a better job outside of MT. Maybe it was the fact you lived in California.

It seemed so totally random! I too am making 10/6 and didn't get laid off. Some were part time and some were full time. Some were tier 1 MTs and some were MMEs. One MME (that I know of) even got a severance package. They put the names in a hat I tell ya.

MT'ers transcription may not be dead after all. I had an interview with a local hospital that has many clinics and outside services. They have had all of their transcription outsourced aside from various departments in the actual hospital. However, they have discovered a better quality of work if they keep their work onsite. They are pulling ALL of their services back to using on-site transcriptionists. Some at home work after training, but there will be no MTS ...

Why is it that MTs (especially the ones who are starting out) have the opportunity to transcribe dictated reports from doctors that sound half dead, like they are using their last breath to dictate a report? I have never wanted to be fired so badly in my life. I have worked in some real feces factories in my day, but this one beats them all. How on earth do they expect any MLS to care about any of these reports if they aren't going to pay us a decent wage? I hope the stock crashes.
