Keyboard recommendations needed please! - JM

I have been an MT now for 10 years. My fingers and hands hurt horribly. I went yesterday and had nerve conduction studies done and I do NOT have carpal tunnel. The pain is just in my fingers. The doc says it is arthritis. I use the Microscoft Elite ergo keyboard which the doc believes kept me from getting carpal tunnel but I am looking for a soft touch keyboard and want to keep the split keys like what I have. Can anyone recommend a keyboard? I have tried typematrix and cannot use that. Also Kinesis is just to weird a format for me to use. I am looking for a recommendation of a keyboard with really soft keys. Anyone know of one?

I like the Kensington Ci73 model (wired). I tried the wireless but the keys are just too "sticky" and had too much repeat. The wired model works just great and it has the feel of my laptop. It is not the split keyboard but the keys have a nice flow and my wrists and hands do not hurt at all. This is by far my favorite keyboard!

I have been using Goldtouch keyboards for years. Great feel and highly adjustable with "tenting" and "splitting."

I've bought mine on ebay. There are something like 40 of them on ebay now, and you can "buy it now" for $42 (shipping included) as I write this.

I am working on demolishing my second Microsoft wave keyboard. The last one lasted 3 years. Since I have used a "wave," I cannot type on a regular keyboard. I have long fingers and this is just perfect for me. Also, a lot of hand trouble...this helps. I've been an MT for 37 years and my hands are shot. Can be bought on line or at any office supply store and probably WalMart.

The letters wear off really badly, but the woman who I was working with swore by them and would not use anything else. So you might try it, a used one. They were quite adjustable and tilted. I bought the Microsoft Natural, as I posted below, from Staples because it was available locally and was only $59.

I bought it in July and I like it very, very much. It is kind of like an ergo keyboard with elevated keys that are kind of separated, but VERY easy learning curve, less than 2 days. I have loved it since July when I got it. Very easy to type on and not get tired. Actually, I think in the beginning the space bar was hard but I had the keyboard sitting on some stuff and when I just put the keyboard on the keyboard tray with nothing underneath it was good.

I do not know about the Elite ergo. Years ago I had a Microsoft Ergonomic which I could never get used to. But this Microsoft one above I love, and if you search the archives you can find it is mentioned by more than a few people when another woman asked about a good keyboard. I wish you luck. -- Also, for carpal tunnel I take 50 mg of vitamin B6 a day. No more than 50 mg, but that helps. You are supposed to not take more than 50 mg per my neurologist. Good luck again.

Hubby and step child will be home for the next 9 days making my work environment extremely noising and crazy. I need to get new headphones and wondered what everyone recommended.
