I want to do IC work again? Any good recommendations? Please SM - Muneca

(I'm sorry--this posted on the main board somehow...which is really strange as I almost never ever visit the main board...but oh well. Here is it again on the correct board.)

I have been a transcriptionist for about 11 years. Was an employee for about 8 of those years and IC for 3 years during that 11-year period. I truly enjoy IC work more than employee status. I just enjoy the flexibility. My life is such that I no longer need to work full time, but I DO need to work to pay some of my everyday living expenses.

Benefits are not a big selling point to me...my fiance and I have already decided we will simply purchase our own healthcare benefits. So, IC work would suit me to a T.

What company would allow me to work part time as an IC, flexible schedule (for example, allowing me to do 600 lines daily during a 24-hour period) with perhaps alternating weekends if they should need help on the weekends?

Also, I really enjoy traveling and would love to work on my laptop. The ideal would be to download the work at the beginning of the day, transcribe during the day, and upload the work that evening. (I am reliable and would finish all of the work that I download in the morning without making whiny excuses as to why I was unable to do the work.)

Are there companies like that? Please respond--either on the board or through email--I would appreciate your help so much.

I am in your same situation. Just lost my job a week ago to voice rec. I found another job as an IC with iMedX. They are only IC status which I absolutely want, no employee status for me!!! Although if that doesn't work out and I get desperate MQ offered me a position as employee but the thought of that makes me cringe!

Haven't started yet with iMedX, just in the process of trying to get their software installed onto my computer. But read posts on this board about them, some complaints, but all say they pay on time and have lots of work. Good luck!

Hubby and step child will be home for the next 9 days making my work environment extremely noising and crazy. I need to get new headphones and wondered what everyone recommended. I have been an MT now for 10 years. My fingers and hands hurt horribly. I went yesterday and had nerve conduction studies done and I do NOT have carpal tunnel. The pain is just in my fingers. The doc says it is arthritis.
