A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
Mr. Christiansen:
What is your stance on the outsourcing of jobs to India, Sri Lanka,
the Phillipines, etc, especially in the medical transcription field? I
have been a medical transcriber for 22 years and have come to the
point where myself and thousands of my colleagues can no longer make a living at
our profession due to the above. It has turned into slave labor wages
here in the U.S. due to the MTSOs outsourcing to those countries
and paying .01 to.02 cents a line to the off-shore workers. This then has
brought our wage down to an insult and an impossibility to sustain a
household. Those countries do not have to adhere to our HIPAA and
HITECH regulations regarding personal information and can sell your and my
info to the highest bidder. We need to keep these jobs here in
America! It is a travesty and the downfall of the United States.
I feel this is a very important area that must be addressed if we are
going to keep the middle class alive in the United States.
Mr. Christiansen's response back to me:
"Absolutely opposed to the outsourcing of jobs. We need to create a business environment in this country where businesses WANT to keep their work in this country. As a businessman, I understand exactly how to do that and make it happen for America.
