How long does it take to get through training at Nuance to where you can actually start typing???? Is it only happening with me?? Thanks!

No, it is not just you. I have been waiting to do actual training for almost a week. No contact from HR. No contact from a trainer. This is very frustrating. I just want to work. Is this a sign of things to come down the road from this company?

I started about a year ago and it took about a week to schedule and complete all of the online training videos. Then I believe it took a couple more days before getting set up to start working.

They don't do actual human training, other than maybe 1 live person talking about acct specs.

I just started for them on 10/16--training took me about a week and a half, but it only took that long b/c they sometimes wouldn't send anything out to be done for a day or two when I had already finished the last stuff I sent them. Now I'm typing, just got off 100% review, and I am finding I am out of work at least 50% of the time. Way less than impressed so far--anyone who's been around a while and has any words of wisdom? I'd be glad to hear them.

Same situation here...I've completed MOST of the required training, but having technical issues after d/l upgrade...I've sent "software support" numerous email communications and keep getting the same response(s) to 'click the link for GoTo' -- but this has a 15-minute window...Still no resolution/no more info on missing training, etc...REALLY STARTING TO WONDER...???

No, it's not you. It took them a month for someone to call me for training. I had to call and ask to be trained on the timesaver also. I started over a month ago. Still feel a little lost, so many emails and abbreviations I don't know what they stand for, LOL. Good Luck!!!

Training?? Who can get to the training with all the paperwork you have to fill out and then they forget something and tell you "Oh, I forgot, you need to fill this out also". Give me a break!! I am beginning to think that this is going to be a nightmare of a job and not sure anymore if I want to bother. Seems they are very disorganized!!

I think you said it best, "very disorganized". Everything goes great with the recruiter after that, not so much. Nothing happened the way she said it would.

I was hired 1 year ago and have been job hunting ever since. I asked the recruiter about holidays and she told me they were paid holidays. Then I find out yea they're paid by ME. I cannot wait to get out of this place.

If you think the training sucks, wait until you actually start working here.

Hi beentheredonethat, thanks for the heads up!!! After seeing all these posts, I am having second thoughts about this company. I was actually hired for the Transcend accounts they just took over, but now I just don't know anymore. I have been an MT for over 19 years and have never seen anything like this before. I took coding classes, just haven't studied for the certification. Maybe I need to rethink that as well and just give up on MT work altogether!!

Nuance IS a nightmare job. I've been there almost a full year (didn't have to go through training since my company was acquired by them) but I run out of work constantly, even though I have been shuffled around from account to account. It is a huge nightmare to work here.

I guess I was one of the lucky ones because I got through the training courses (online) all in 1 day and then had 1 day where I was online with someone who was going over the specs for the acct that I (and others) were being assigned to and then was up and running the next day. It took about 2 weeks overall from the time I talked to my recruiter and then was assigned a team leader and I am on an account now which I truly love and is probably 3/4 straight dictation so it is great

I got through the recorded training sessions in fairly short order and was typing shortly thereafter. I thought the training provided was thorough.

I was just offered a position and need to find out about which version of Word most of you use? I was told I could use Word 2003, 2007, or 2010? I need to update to be compatible and am looking for the least expensive way so I can start working for them. Was told platform is Escription. Any advice and/or help would be appreciated!

Word 2003 here. I try to keep everything as backwards-compatible as possible, - in case I ever want to move on (I do!).

I was thinking the same thing about Word 2003, did some research and a lot of companies use that plus it is less expensive. Thanks for your advice.

Training went smoothly for me. - see message

Once I turned all my paperwork into HR it took about a day for the trainer to contact me. There were self-paced recorded trainings to watch. I liked them because I could start/stop and take notes. Then I had had a choice of which live training session I wanted to attend. It was a phone/web training with a trainer where I could ask questions. My experience with training was very good.

If you are still waiting and all of your paperwork has been sent in, I would definitely check back with your recruiter, or maybe human resources.

Am I the only one who is brain-dead from going through this training???? This has got to be the worst training I have ever gone through and I have been an MT for over 25 years. Is anybody else overwhelmed by the exhaustive training program provided by Nuance? I just went through this and really had a hard time uploading their videos and getting into all the programs. Also the fact that they do not help too much. Maybe I am just slow as I am getting up there in age. It does make a difference when you are older. Every day ASR gets increasingly of base. There are so many times when I have to sit and search each line looking for anything that remotely resembles what is being clearly dictated. It started out with maybe 35% accuracy before editing. Now it barely makes 20%.
