Overwhelmed with new training at Nuance!!!!! - Suzy Q

Am I the only one who is brain-dead from going through this training???? This has got to be the worst training I have ever gone through and I have been an MT for over 25 years. Nowhere else has it been this bad. Do they really try hard to make this so complicated and hard that you want to jump off a cliff before you even start???

All I can say is HELP.

I am an MT at Nuance and don't know what training you are receiving. What training are you talking about? Am I missing out on all the fun? LOL BTW, don't care for Nuance much either!!!

...were something that I could refer back to when needed. Lots of helpful documentation. Live platform training was very good. Granted, it is a lot of information to take in, but that does not make it bad. If you want help contact the trainers or your supervisor, they will help!

I agree. I still have a live class tonight and another class in the morning and then will be done - at least I think!! It is a lot to comprehend and then have to go and set up all the emails and webclocks etc!!!

MT/ME, after all. An introduction to the platform and editing program, a cheat sheet with the shortcut keys, a review of Nuance practices and standards and HIPAA-type requirements, an instruction sheet reminding you where to find all this info. ??

Webmedx did all this in one morning, and the afternoon was spent doing reports and sending them all to QA for review. People who knew their stuff could be off QA review the second day. I was, 12 years in the biz after all.

So, what are they adding to make it such a big deal? Is the extra training genuinely helpful--meant to help be faster and more productive? Webmedx was light on teaching legal requirements when I started and mostly didn't bother with helpful tips and techniques--just pointed us who to contact for additional one-on-one assistance.

Are they watching when you are typing versus having stepped away from your desk? Is it like punching in and punching out like at a hospital?

Way too much information, way too fast. Just try to listen as much as you can and know, right up front, you're NEVER gonna retain all of it at once. Print off as much as you can, make notes of where you can go for information, write down all you user names and passwords (there are MULTIPLE) and along beside those, the websites where you go and what that website does for you. After that, read your account specifics before you get ready to type, highlight some specifics or make a cheat sheet (i.e. how to handle abbreviations, allergies, meds, date formats, etc.) and start typing. About 1 or 2 weeks after you start, look over all your training material again...I PROMISE a LOT will become really clear to you then. You can also ask your supervisor to set up a fake report for you to go into and play around with. Click on all the buttons, learn what they do and where they take you. Hang in there. Been at this a looooong time and I thot their training was extensive too. Best of luck to ya.

I am a recent graduate from a good school, did extremely well and find myself feeling very overwhelmed in taking the first steps in applying for jobs. Is anybody else overwhelmed by the exhaustive training program provided by Nuance? I just went through this and really had a hard time uploading their videos and getting into all the programs. Also the fact that they do not help too much. Maybe I am just slow as I am getting up there in age. It does make a difference when you are older. Every day ASR gets increasingly of base. There are so many times when I have to sit and search each line looking for anything that remotely resembles what is being clearly dictated. It started out with maybe 35% accuracy before editing. Now it barely makes 20%.
